Feed My Starving Children

Saturday, August 13, 2022

Start your weekend off feeding others. It's also Kim's 64th birthday - so there is another reason to celebrate!

I’ve reserved 25 Volunteer Spots on the 13th at 9:00 AM at the Chanhassen Feed My Starving Children site.

If you are willing to join us, please let me know so that I can add your name to our roster. Please pass this along to your children and any friends that I didn’t include in my original group. The sooner I can get your commitment, the sooner I will be able to add more spaces for volunteers.

Thanks,

Craig

Your hands are essential in the fight against world hunger. Contact Craig Brandt at [email protected], if you would like to volunteer.

VEAP SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

St. Luke's will be collecting donations until July 28th

Thousands of students in the Bloomington, Richfield and Edina school districts need help filling their backpacks this fall. Join us in supporting their academic success by making sure they have all the supplies they need for the year. VEAP will be collecting items and distributing to the school districts with the support of local faith communities, businesses and partners.

What supplies are most needed?

Backpacks, scientific calculators and Bluetooth headphones are high-demand items and the most impactful as they’re the most expensive for families to purchase on their own. If you are able, please consider making these a focus of your donations. Traditional supplies like spiral notebooks, crayons, glue sticks and washable markers are needed as well. Please make sure all items are new.

Stewardship Thought

"How we use and manage God's gifts affect far more than our economic life. We are stewards in our use of God's creation, in our personal relationships, in our political and ecclesial institutions, in our work, and in our use of time. Indeed, we are stewards of the gospel itself - the good news entrusted to all of us in the church."

Bruce C. Birch in his foreword to The Steward Living in Covenant by Ronald E Vallet

New Member Luncheon

August 21- 11:15 AM - 1:15 PM

St. Luke’s is a welcoming and growing community of faith busy making Christ known. With an increasing number of people in our society choosing no religious affiliation, we invite you to join the rebellion. Help shine the light of Christ in a darkened world by living out our core values of service, worship, evangelism, community, stewardship, and discipleship by receiving and sharing the Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love of Jesus. Please contact Rob for more information.

yardwork

Yard Care Group

There is someone interested in doing some yard care at St. Luke’s in the evenings, and they are looking for some company. It would be on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.  (not meeting on Monday, August 1st)

Please contact me at [email protected] or stop me at church if you have any questions.

The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 until 12:00. These are the hours I will try to keep. Come earlier or later, whatever works best for you. An hour put in by you is an hour less for someone else. There are no rules. You can work on anything that fits your talents. Besides trimming, weeding and mulching, there are other opportunities to see what we can do to improve the garden areas on the southside of the building along the Great Room, Nursery, Office and Fireside Room windows.

The cedar fence that surrounds the storage area on the northeast corner of the Fellowship Hall could use a power wash/sanding and a coat (or 2) of stain as well. A real smorgasbord, something for everyone! Please bring your own tools. If you have room at home for yard waste, please bring your own containers, if not, we can just pile it on the ground by the storage area and I will haul it away. Thank you! - Property Committee
