WEEKLY UPDATE: February 15, 2021
LENTEN SEASONS BEGINS FEBRUARY 17th
WITH ASH WEDNESDAY

The only way to the empty tomb is through the cross. Therefore, it is the custom of the Church that before the Easter celebration there should be a forty-day season of spiritual preparation.
This time is called the Season of Lent, and is a time of reconciliation, repentance, and forgiveness. The Church is reminded of the mercy and forgiveness proclaimed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We begin our Lenten journey with a virtual Ash Wednesday service of worship. The service will be available on YouTube starting at 8am and will premiere on Facebook at 7pm.

Let's prepare together for Easter.

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Phillipians 3:10 -11 NIV
Giving from Our Own to Support Our Own

On Our Own is an outreach ministry for people with mental health issues in Charlottesville. They have a thrift store, Uplift Thrift, where donated items are sold to supplement their budget.

This year, the Mission Team is asking that members of CUMC combine Lent with giving to On Our Own. For the 40 days of Lent, choose 40 items you can donate such as: clothes, shoes, dishes, books, puzzles, small furniture, small appliances, etc.

All items can be dropped off weekly at the Church or dropped off all together on Saturday, April 3rd. Pickup can also be arranged at your home.

Please contact Kitti Mann for more information.
