C ongratulations to PAUL BAXLEY, pastor of First Baptist Church, Athens, GA, on his election as executive coordinator of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. You'll find five articles linked in this issue of Weekly Baptist Roundup, reporting on this important decision on the future direction of CBF (see Featured Articles) .
T his week, I want to draw your attention especially to the article, Where the colors of the world worship together . JEFF HAMPTON's article in Baptist News Global relates the remarkable story of the Gaston Christian Center in Dallas, founded by Gaston Oaks Baptist Church. I've followed the story of this ministry through the years, as my home church, Wilshire Baptist Church, has been strongly connected with it from the beginning. It's led by my dear friends BILL O'BRIEN, executive director, and GARY COOK, pastor of Gaston Oaks Baptist Church.

Jeff tells the story of how God used an immigrant from Myanmar as the spark for a ministry that now touches the lives of so many from so many different places and ethnicities. It is truly the Gospel in action.

I hope you'll read Jeff's article. Then, if you're interested in getting personally involved in supporting this ministry, you can find more information at Gaston Christian Center's Web site .
L ast week, many of us lost a good friend when JIMMY ALLEN, longtime Baptist pastor, denominational leader, and ethicist, passed away. I encourage you to read my blog post, Jimmy Allen: ". . . thanking God for the touch of T. B. Maston in my life," in which I focus on Dr. Maston's influence in Jimmy's life, as well as a few of my own personal memories of Jimmy Allen.
