Ice Storm Damage Relief for Businesses & Individuals
SBA DISASTER LOANS
For businesses (physical damage and economic injury) AND for homeowners
The SBA disaster assistance program provides low-interest loans for homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private nonprofit organizations to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, inventory, and business assets that were damaged or destroyed during the recent ice storm. The SBA tailors the repayment of each disaster loan to the borrower’s financial capability. Learn more at SBA.gov or watch the SBA Presentation Recording in partnership with the Petoskey and Charlevoix Chambers.
HOMEOWNER FUNDING THROUGH NMCAA
For homeowner repairs and clean-up
Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA), with support from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, Petoskey Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation and the Great Lakes Energy People Fund, is pleased to announce emergency home repair funding support for households impacted by the March 28-30, 2025 ice storm that devasted northern Michigan. The Housing & Energy Efficiency Services (HEES) department is prepared to respond to emergency repair needs due to damage sustained by community members’ homes and property. NMCAA has a strong presence in these counties, as well as decades of experience with administering emergency home repair programs. NMCAA has an extensive network of qualified, licensed, and insured local inspectors and contractors ready to assist, including roofers, plumbers, and HVAC technicians. Repairs anticipated include roofs, water damage, electrical, tree removal, and a host of other needs that may arise. Addressing these repairs will allow community members to safely remain in their housing, which is paramount in this climate where safe and affordable housing is greatly limited. To learn more, contact fmsintake@nmcaa.net or visit nmcaa.net.

Pet of The Week- Misty!
Meet Misty! This pretty lady is a mixed breed who we guess to be around two years old. She came to our shelter from Van Buren County along with who we believe to be her sister, Meadow. Unfortunately, as transfers, we don't know much of anything about their past. Nor how they ended up in the shelter to begin with. While she can be quite shy with people, Misty is more than eager to please! She can't wait to get in on some petting and baby talk. Being at the shelter is a very stressful situation, as can be expected. But she has already begun to come out of her shell since arriving! Misty has had a couple of seizures while in our care and has been diagnosed with epilepsy. This means that she will need medication twice daily for the rest of her life to help keep it under control. Misty is ready for a great new furever home and needs all the love you can give. She'll be happy to return the favor!
