Pet of The Week- Misty!
Meet Misty! This pretty lady is a mixed breed who we guess to be around two years old. She came to our shelter from Van Buren County along with who we believe to be her sister, Meadow. Unfortunately, as transfers, we don't know much of anything about their past. Nor how they ended up in the shelter to begin with. While she can be quite shy with people, Misty is more than eager to please! She can't wait to get in on some petting and baby talk. Being at the shelter is a very stressful situation, as can be expected. But she has already begun to come out of her shell since arriving! Misty has had a couple of seizures while in our care and has been diagnosed with epilepsy. This means that she will need medication twice daily for the rest of her life to help keep it under control. Misty is ready for a great new furever home and needs all the love you can give. She'll be happy to return the favor!

Lake Michigan Yacht Sales Expands to Charlevoix
Lake Michigan Yacht Sales Charlevoix (LMYS Charlevoix) is excited to announce a major transformation of an industrial site into a state-of-the-art marine services and boat storage facility on Ferry Road. This project, set to begin construction in summer 2025, will not only revitalize the area but also significantly expand marine services in Charlevoix.
"We're thrilled to bring new life to this site while providing essential services to the boating community," said Matt Mrozinski, of LMYS Charlevoix. "Our facility will improve the local landscape and contribute to Charlevoix's thriving maritime economy."
The development will clean up and modernize the existing industrial site, adding substantial green spaces and improving the visual appeal of the area. The redesigned facility will incorporate environmentally friendly features, aligning with the company's commitment to sustainable practices.
LMYS Charlevoix, a subsidiary of Onekama Marine Inc., brings 60 years of marine industry experience to this project. As a certified Michigan Clean Marina, Onekama Marine Inc. has a proven track record of environmental stewardship and industry-leading practices.
The project is expected to create numerous jobs, including positions for skilled mechanics, customer service representatives, and facility management staff. LMYS Charlevoix is committed to hiring locally and contributing to the community's economic growth.
"We're excited to enhance this area while providing essential services to the boating community," said Matt Mrozinski of LMYS Charlevoix. Our goal is to provide unparalleled marine services while being good neighbors and responsible corporate citizens. The facility will improve the local landscape and contribute to Charlevoix's thriving maritime economy. We have been selling boats in Bay Harbor for over 20 years, and now adding a local storage and service aspect to our business in Charlevoix is the ideal complement to our Bay Harbor facility and will tangibly benefit our customers in a positive way.”
Construction is scheduled for completion by summer 2026. The company plans to host community information sessions and open houses throughout the development process to ensure transparency and gather local input.
