DISCOVER ARTISTRY IN WOODTURNING AND QUILTING AT CHARLEVOIX CIRCLE OF ARTS’ “TURNED & STITCHED” EXHIBIT

Charlevoix Circle of Arts is excited to announce its upcoming exhibit, Turned & Stitched: Artistry in Woodturning and Quilting, showcasing the incredible talents of local artisans.

The exhibition will run from March 8th to April 6th, with an opening reception on Friday, March 8th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the artists and enjoy light refreshments. We welcome everyone to witness the transformation of raw wood and fabric into exquisite works of art, each piece a testament to the skill and dedication of its creator.

The wood pieces featured in this exhibition were meticulously crafted by members of Northwestern Michigan Woodturners, a club dedicated to the art of turning wood on a lathe. With approximately 35 active members, the group convenes monthly in Traverse City. Member pieces for this exhibit were selected by juror by Chuck McLaughlin. The quilts on display were made by local artists who poured their creativity and passion into every facet of the quilt-making process, from fabric selection and cutting to stitching and quilting layers. The quilts were thoughtfully chosen by Carmin Hartwig, owner of Cousin’s Quilt Shop, with locations in both Bellaire and Charlevoix. Event Details:

• Exhibit Dates: March 8– April 6, 2024

• Location: Charlevoix Circle of Arts, 109 Clinton Street, Downtown Charlevoix

• Gallery Hours: Monday to Friday: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm • Admission is free.

The public is invited to attend this fine art exhibition, made possible by the generous sponsorship support of Grey Gables Restaurant & Catering. Additionally, woodturning demonstrations, quilting classes and artist talks are being scheduled during this exhibit. For more information about the exhibition, related events, or Charlevoix Circle of Arts, please contact (231) 547-3554 or visit www.charlevoixcircle.org.
