Charlevoix Conservation District Survey
The County plat book is a small fundraiser for the Charlevoix Conservation District, and a service we've provided every 3-4 years, dating back to the 1980's. In recent years publishing costs have increased making it challenging for the district to do much more than break even. Ads from local businesses assist tremendously with publishing costs, however as you are well aware, the current health crisis has caused many businesses to reprioritize their advertising budget, among other things.

In this brief (1 minute), 5 question survey we would greatly appreciate hearing from you - our local landowners (year-round or summer), businesses owners and partners - to learn how important the county plat book is to you.

Your answers will help us determine if we should postpone yet another year, or consider ending this service entirely.  For questions about the plat book, please contact District Manager, Alison Adams at 231-582-6193, or alison.adams@macd.org. Thank you for your support! Click HERE for survey!

Flu Season 2020: "Give it a Shot"
Staying protected during the flu season is more important than ever. Not only is the flu a serious illness, it can also be a huge burden due to stress placed on our health care system, costs related to medical treatment, sick days and lost productivity from employees being off work. The flu vaccine is a smart way to reduce an individual’s chance of getting the flu and benefits everyone around them. Encourage your members to “give it a shot” this year. Visit Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s website to get the right information, understand the importance of the flu shot and know where to get vaccinated.

Odawa Casino Presents More than $11,400 to Local Non-Profits
Odawa Casino raised more than $11,400 in donations to share equally between four local nonprofits, and presented checks to the organizations including Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan, Wawatam Area Senior Center, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, and Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity, for $2,853.72 each.

Odawa Casino launched the Spare Change Donation program in August in response to the national coin shortage and simultaneously supports local nonprofits within the community. The program includes boxes around the casino floor where guests are able to donate the change from their gaming vouchers instead of cashing them in at the casino cashier.

“The Spare Change program was created as a way of doing our part in both the current national situation, but also sending donations to some amazing nonprofit organizations that are crucial to our community. We were pleased to see that the community showed up and had such a positive response to the program”, said Ron Olson, Odawa Casino General Manager.

Odawa Casino Petoskey and Mackinaw City will continue the program for the foreseeable future with different nonprofits in the area every few months to continue with addressing both the needs of the community, as well as the coin shortage.

Owned and operated by the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, the $140 million Odawa Casino in Petoskey opened in June, 2007 and features nearly 1,000 slot machines, table games, multiple dining options, the fabulous new Victories Sports and Entertainment Bar, and an off property 137-room hotel. Odawa Casino Mackinaw City opened in May 2016, and is currently in the process of a brand new expansion for an even higher quality gaming experience.
