Recommended preserves (and assist projects) in Charlevoix County that are not open to hunting are listed here: Nathan "Barry" Driggers, The Hill, North Point Natural Area, Charles A. Ransom, Raven Rdige, Rogers Family Homestead, Portions of St. Clair Lake/ Six Mile Lake Natural Area, and Wisser-Saworski. Beaver Island; Barney's Lake, Little Sand Bay, and George and Althea Petritz.

Interactive maps of Conservancy-owned nature preserves can be found at www.landtrust.org or on the free nature preserve app, LTC Explorer (Google or Apple app stores). A printed preserve map was updated this October and is also available online or at our office near Harbor Springs.

Double Your Giving Power on "Giving Tuesday", December 3rd!
Dear animal lover! Your donation gets doubled! Now is a great time to double your investment in saving the lives of dogs and cats at the Charlevoix Area Humane Society. By donating now, we are able to double your donation, helping twice as much as ever before. $10 = $20, $50 = $100, etc.

Your tax-deductible donation, in addition to providing shelter, food and medical care for homeless animals, will make it possible to accomplish two critically needed improvements. First, is to purchase a ventilation system, which we don't have, to curb airborne viruses and keep shelter animals healthy while they wait to be adopted. This would include a new heating and cooling system. Second, to provide an in-house surgical room, making it possible for us to spay and neuter our shelter dogs and cats, which will save tens of thousands of dollars year after year! Please write “Giving Tuesday” on the memo line of your check, or on December 3rd donate online at www.charlevoixhumane.org or call 231-582-6774 to make a donation with your credit card.

Credit Union Rallies to Donate Hundreds of Gifts to Area Families
Professional development means more than service improvements at 4Front Credit Union
While many financial institutions were closed Monday, October 14 for a federal banking holiday, more than 200 4Front Credit Union team members gathered at Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City for a day of bettering themselves and the communities they serve. The highlight of these opportunities is the intertwining of professional development with a concerted community giving effort. The credit union assisted Bikes for Tikes Northwest Michigan and NW Michigan Marine Toys for Tots.

Employees were separated into small groups where they were challenged to work together to assemble 20 bicycles subsequently donated to northern Michigan families in need. Team members also had the opportunity to help fill a presentation stage with gifts later donated to Toys for Tots. It presented a terrific opportunity to give back to the northern Michigan community while participating in a worthwhile team building exercise. In addition to the time spent last week assembling bicycles, team members have contributed 2,374 volunteer hours throughout 2019 equating to nearly 100 full days of volunteerism. 4Front staff have provided northern Michigan communities with 6,555 volunteer hours since 2015.
