Fall Native Plant Sale
September 12

The Charlevoix Conservation District is hosting a Fall Native Plant Sale fundraiser. Pre-orders are due by September 1st, if possible. Order pick-up and Browse-n-Buy from extra inventory on September 12th at the District Barn, located at 303 North Street in Boyne City. Afterward, view the new Native Plant Demonstration Garden, started by donation, to learn more about planting with native plants. We are seeking volunteers to assist with planting the new garden!

Michiganders Can Give Energy Input at Virtual Open Houses
September 15

You’re invited to participate in the second of four virtual public open houses hosted by Consumers Energy to gather suggestions for its Clean Energy Plan. The plan eliminates coal and helps achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.

At the open houses, Consumers Energy wants to learn what’s most important to their customers and key stakeholders and to learn their vision of the state’s energy future. 
This session will focus on the Road to Renewable Energy. To participate in the open house, visit www.MICleanEnergy.com for links to join the event. The open house is scheduled to last 45-minutes.

Additional open houses will be held:  
  • 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13: Protecting Our Planet

The public input will help inform Consumers Energy’s suggested Clean Energy Plan updates to the Michigan Public Service Commission in June 2021.

It is for the newcomer to the government marketplace and a worthwhile refresher for those who are already selling to the government. In this workshop, we will discuss the basics of government contracting, differences between government and commercial selling, tips to being a successful government supplier, and where to go for assistance. St. Michael Academy’s recent TRUE GOOD BEAUTIFUL Golf Invitational at True North Golf Club raised $17,000 in support of classical Catholic education in Northern Michigan.

True North's outstanding staff welcomed golfers with a chef-prepared and served breakfast and lunch, putting clinic with Golf Professional Michael Kernicki, and more.

Greeted by students on several holes, foursomes partook in an SMA POP-QUIZ. “It was a great day! The students are impressive and it reinforced why we will participate next year,” shared Stephen H. Gastroenterologists Join McLaren Northern Michigan
McLaren Northern Michigan is pleased to announce that gastroenterologist Kyle Robertson, DO, has joined McLaren Northern Michigan Digestive Health.

Dr. Robertson took his love of science and received a bachelors in biology from the University of Michigan before going to medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, and completed his gastroenterology fellowship at McLaren Greater Lansing. New exhibit starts September 18th! "Time with Eagles" a photographic study by local photographer Bill Dietrich.  Bill Dietrich is a respected local wildlife photographer and a founding member of the Charlevoix Photography Club. The Annual Parade of Homes and Garden Tour has gone VIRTUAL!
Reach a huge audience by promoting your project on the Home Builders Association of Northern Michigan online Virtual Home and Garden Tour. Projects can include homes, remodeling projects, decks, landscape projects and outdoor living spaces, including homes for sale. Tour will be heavily promoted for viewing Oct 3-10. Volunteer with the Charlevoix Conservation District
Check out the new Native Plant Demonstration Garden, started by donation, to learn more about planting with native plants. We are seeking volunteers to assist with planting the new garden! Planting work days are scheduled for Wednesday & Thursday, September 23 & 24 from 10am-2pm, lunch will be included!

Partners in our Native Plant Demonstration Garden include: Donation from local resident and native plant enthusiast, Pat Brinker of Charlevoix, Landscape Logic of Charlevoix, Birdsfoot Nursery of South Boardman, Design By Nature – Vern Stephens, Native Plant Specialist, and Master Gardener volunteers of Boyne Valley Area.

Additional work days that we need volunteers for are: August 28th- Beachgrass Overgrowth Removal, October 2nd- Beachgrass Fern Pull, and October 8 & 9- Beachgrass Re-planting.
