Cheers to 123 Years of Fashion!
Our great grandfather opened our first store 123 years ago. We have changed a lot over the years. We no longer carry wedding dresses, fishing rods, box fans, glassware, etc.; but we do continue to sell great fashion.
Our commitment to serving you and being a part of your community has not changed since 1897. To mark this milestone, we have an Anniversary Sale like none other. We are so excited to share the celebration of 123 years with you!
The communities we serve are so important to us and this year we have taken a local approach to our Give-Back Tuesday! This year, we have asked each of our 64 storefront locations to select a local organization to donate 10% of their stores sales to on Tuesday, 10/6. The 65th location, our web store, has selected the national organization Color of Change to donate to on this day.
We are excited to make this Give-Back Tuesday and Anniversary celebration the best one yet!
We are also proud to be a chamber member in all of our 65 communities.
If you want to learn more about our history you can check us out at gliks.com on the about us page. We hope to see you at our Anniversary event September 28th - October 11th!

Construction Begins for Great Lakes Energy Headquarters Expansion
A ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the expansion of the Great Lakes Energy headquarters was held Wednesday, September 23, in Boyne City. The expansion will provide much-needed infrastructure and space for the growth the electric cooperative has experienced in recent years.

Truestream, GLE’s new fiber internet and voice network, plays a vital role in the need to expand. Launched in 2018 in rural parts of Emmet, Charlevoix, and Cheboygan counties, Truestream brings high-speed internet, with speeds up to 1 Gig, and voice services to homes and businesses that have long been without broadband. Community Foundation and Health Department Partner to Provide School Nurses
Ten years ago, the Community Foundation was part of an effort to provide school nurses across Charlevoix County and recently made a grant to sustain that service for hundreds of local children.  “Healthcare services provided by school nurses are important in our local schools every day, and they are especially important today.  We are so fortunate to be in a position to partner with the Health Department of Northwest Michigan to make these services a reality for the benefit of our students and our school districts,” explains Chip Hansen, president of the Charlevoix County Community Foundation.
A grant for $130,000 from the Community Foundation will help the Health Department provide two full-time school nurses to serve in Boyne City, Boyne Falls, and East Jordan Public Schools for the 2020-2021 school year. Charlevoix Public Schools was able to fill the gap in health support on their own.  Confirmed funding for the current school year will also provide time for the Health Department to engage with the school districts and other potential partners to explore collaborations aimed at sustaining the school nursing program for the longer term.
