New Organizational Support Grand Cycle Announced
The Charlevoix County Community Foundation is announcing changes to the upcoming grant cycle in response to changing needs in our communities. Formerly called Community Project Support, the cycle was originally scheduled to have an application due date of May 1, 2020 and was intended to provide support for community projects and programs in several focus areas including arts & culture, veterans assistance, health and wellness, urgent needs, and more. However, due to the current COVID-19 crisis our communities are facing, the Community Foundation has moved the grant cycle deadline to June 1, 2020. The cycle will now be called Organizational Support and will provide opportunities for eligible nonprofits to apply for support for not only community projects but also for general operating support.

This grant cycle is ongoing, and organizations can learn more about how to apply at c3f.org .  To see the full announcement and document with additional info click HERE .

Summer Art Show Cancelled
The Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce staff and Board of Directors have been consistently monitoring the health and safety outlook for our community while planning for our summer events. We have been considering our decisions based on the planning timeline for each event, being careful not to rush important decisions knowing the effects these event cancellations have on our community.

We are saddened to announce our decision to cancel the Sumer Art Sow scheduled for June 27 & 28, 2020. This was an extremely difficult decision, as we know this not only affects our organization but further impacts the participating artist and local businesses. Given the information we have now and the current outlook, we feel we will not be able to produce the Summer Art Show in a manner that will provide the deserved experience for all involved while adhering to the expected mandated requirements.

We hope to divert out efforts over the next several weeks into planning new events we can create this summer, to bring the community together both in the current landscape and when we are able to participate together in-person. As the situation evolves and we find way to safely gather, we look forward to coming together again soon!

Raven Hill Updates
You may or may not know that Raven Hill Discovery Center has made the difficult decision to “hibernate” for 12 months due to the COVID-19 crisis. Hopefully, the Center can safely open a year from now with a plan for whatever the future brings. Opening for this 2020 spring and summer season would be difficult in this time of social distancing. Fall and winter are slow times, so opening in the spring of 2021 in time for spring field trips, discovery camps and summer visitors, seems to be the best option for the Center at this point in time, if that is feasible. Work will go on behind the scenes and your continued support is appreciated. Check us out daily on Facebook and the website ( www.MiRavenHill.org ) for informal learning activities, photo memories, history pages, updates and more. We may also be reached via email ( info@miravenhill.org ) or phone: 231.675.6025.

Munson Healthcare Seeking Hand-Sewn Masks
Munson Healthcare is heartened by the ongoing support from our communities across northern Michigan. We are grateful for the commitment to keeping our healthcare team safe during this challenging time by answering our calls for help. Today, we ask for your continued support in bringing more hand-sewn face masks to Munson Healthcare facilities.

With the universal masking policy in place, Munson Healthcare has a critical need for hand-sewn mask donations to accommodate the universal masking policy, especially for patients and visitors. At this time, Munson Healthcare is accepting hand-sewn mask donations of any style, pattern, or design.

The following guidelines will help keep our patients and visitors safe:
·     Fabric should be tightly-woven, breathable and can be secured to the face appropriately.
·     All hand-sewn items must be latex free.
·     In order to accommodate for shrinkage, please consider increasing your pattern size by at least 30 percent or wash in hot water prior to sewing.
·     Supplies should be new or unused.
·     Items must be donated to one of Munson Healthcare’s designated drop-off locations.
·     Please do not make face masks if you are ill.

We are extremely grateful for the support of the seamstresses in our communities. Your donation of hand-sewn face masks will help ensure the safety of those entering the hospital during this unprecedented time. For questions, please call or email Debbie Esenther at 708-205-8714 and debra.esenther@sbcglobal.net . See the full document HERE .
