Lunch Room Composting Program Helpers

Dear Parents,
We have a fun opportunity to help our children contribute
and learn more about composting.
Each day during the lunch hours the PTO assists the students as they clean up and properly sort their trash into the composting and recycling bins. For us to get the full use and full fill the desired purpose we need parent volunteers to guide the students to where they can recycle and compost specific items.
You can sign up whenever you want to and no regular
commitment is needed .
This composting will be sustainable only with the help of our school community.
(This is a great chance to show your children your school spirit and sneak them a hug in the middle of the day.)

Your service is appreciated.

Lunch hours are 11:30-1:15pm.

"Healthy Kids Running Series"

Is your child looking for a sport that does not require a huge commitment, gets them outdoors, is FUN and cheap?  Healthy Kids Running Series is a non profit organization started to help tackle childhood obesity and instill a love of running in kids age Prek-8th Grade.  We are in 48 towns nationwide and all our programs run during the same weeks in both the spring and the fall!  So it is quite an operation!  Families meet for 5 Sunday afternoons to watch their kids run.  Each child receives "race bag" with a bib #  for each week and other goodies supplied by our sponsors and other local businesses (so they get a feel for what running in a real competitive race is like) and all kids get a medal at the last race.

It may be a good "pump up" for middle school kids who are looking for an alternative sport, good practice for the Presidential Fitness Award for elementary age children as well as plain old fun for the preschoolers and their parents. Let's celebrate the spring and enjoy running outdoors!

See attached flyer for registration details.
