We're going to Guatemala!
So we thought it would be a good idea to show my set up and supplies for painting on location… in Guatemala OR anywhere else in the world you are headed!
Whether you call it "on-location" or "en plein air" the information is the same. I don't travel with my entire studio anymore! After twenty-five years of doing workshops around the world, I've learned to travel with only what is necessary.
This is my basic kit:
•Easy-L Easel - No nonsense, portable easel with telescoping legs
•Kilimanjaro Watercolor Paper Pad - 9x12 inch, 300 lb CP
•Gator Board - 1/2 inch, used as a back board or lap board
•Paint - acrylic and/or watercolors. I take acrylic tubes and watercolor pan sets
•Water-soluble pencils - Derwent InkTense pencils and blocks
•Drawing/Sketching Pencils and Pens - Favorite is Faber-Castell Artist Pitt Pen
•Brushes - acrylic-type brushes; Flats and Filberts
•Miscellaneous Tools - collapsible water bucket, tape, pencil sharpener, paper towels
•Sketchbook - Spiral Bound
•Hat, Sunscreen, Camera
A great benefit for keeping your on-location supplies lean and mean, besides hauling it yourself… it takes less time to set up and pack up! More painting time - YAY!
