Overwhelmed by color choices?
There’s always something new:

•New Products
•New Brushes
•New new new!
It is so easy to get overwhelmed because of too many choices, or a lack of focus. When I start spinning, directionless in the studio - or spinning in too many directions - I just stop and concentrate on the basic, primary color combination of RED YELLOW BLUE + black and white.
In this demo, I use red, yellow and blue to bring a pear painting back to a bright newness. The primaries helped to simplify the painting and got it out of a dull color.
But - can you paint ONLY with primaries? Why YES! There is an artist you probably thought of - Piet Mondrian (1872 – 1944) was a Dutch artist who is most famous for his contribution to abstract art through works in which he used only the straight line, the three primary colors, and the neutrals of black, white and gray.
To simplify your studio time, try this:
•Have a Simple Day in your studio
•Keep everything simple
•One big brush
•Same size watercolor paper
•Use only primary colors + black and white
•Paint all day with only this palette.
Start new paintings or paint on top of less successful ones. The results will overwhelm you!
