The Lady Mustangs’ Senior Night opponents were the Cy Fair Bobcats and, though they fought hard, it wasn’t enough to best the Mustangs — Mustangs won 50-30. Seniors dominated scoring for the Mustangs —
Draden Moss (#11) had a double-double with 32 points and 11 rebounds; Ivy Oliver (#3) had 7 points/8 rebounds and Brooke Kearns (#4) had 7 points/5 rebounds; and Allison Moss (#12) had 4 points/11 rebounds.

With her 32 points, Draden Moss (#11) broke a 60-year old record set by MHS Legend Jerry Kroll back in 1966. She surpassed his 2,140 career points and now reigns as Memorial High School’s All-Time Leading Scorer!! HUGE congratulations to Draden on this amazing accomplishment!!

Saturday morning, the Lady Mustangs faced Cy Creek, for the second time this season. The Cougars came out super physical, their offense was on, and their defense was fierce. The Lady Mustangs left it all on the court, but they fell to the Cougars 28-64. Draden Moss (#11) led scoring with 15 points, Brooke Kearns (#4) hit two threes for 6 points, and Allison Moss (#12) put up 4 points. Despite the tough game, we had a fun surprise visit from Jerry Kroll — so special for Draden to meet and take a photo with him!

Memorial Mustangs Fight Hard on the Road at Cy‑Fair

The Memorial Mustangs hit the road on 1/28/26 to face the Cy‑Fair Bobcats, bringing energy and grit from the opening tip. Jaxon Sletten started the scoring with a strong bucket off a sharp pass from Jack Floyd, and Alan Wang followed with a smooth jumper to spark the offense. Despite intense Bobcat pressure, the Mustangs closed the first quarter down 4–15 but momentum was building.

In the second quarter, Jase Lane opened with a big corner three, and Jack kept attacking, drawing contact on a strong drive. Tate Pinkerton delivered multiple baskets during Memorial’s best offensive stretch, Jack drilled a top‑of‑the‑key three, Tanner Watkins knocked down another from deep, and Alan powered through for an and‑one finish. The Mustangs went into halftime trailing 21–33 but building momentum.

After the break, Tareq Kaniche buried a confident three, Jack scored again in the paint, Tanner broke loose for a transition layup, and Jase added a tough finish through a foul. Despite a late push with baskets from Jaxon, Jase, and Tate, the Mustangs ultimately fell 38–52.

This group continues to grow stronger each game. Go Mustangs!

JV

JV stayed close early but a series of turnovers and a hoop that seemed twice as wide as ours saw Cy-Fair pull away then extend their lead in the second half. The final score was 43-65 with 9 a piece for Beau Livingstone and Tony Yu and 6 from Haden Granmayeh . 10 missed free throws and those costly turnovers left the series split 1-1 against the Bobcats.

Sophomore

Sophomore team had a tough game Wednesday night, trailing early to CyFair. The Mustangs worked hard to close the gap in the 4th quarter but finished the night with their first district loss, 47-63. Caleb Brown led the team with 10 points, 2 blocks and one steal. Avery Shih also delivered a strong performance, with 6 points and one steal.

Freshman A

Wednesday the Freshman A boys traveled out 290 to face off against the Cy Fair Bobcats. The Mustangs just couldn’t break out of the corral as the Bobcats took an early lead and didn’t look back. Diego Lafee tacked on four assists to take the current team lead in that stat but additional points were too few and too far between.

Freshman B

Freeze day? The Freshman B Team is staying hot and improved to 14-5 this week. While the entire region was still defrosting, the Mustangs rolled into hostile territory on Wednesday night and secured a 12‑point win. Ben Nein continued destroying the opposition by adding his 7th game with more than 20 points. JR Anderson secured the trenches with another 11 boards and Luke Tackett chipped in 8 points.

Mustangs Battle to 2–2 Draw vs. Cy‑Fair

The Mustangs opened the week with a hard‑fought match on the road against Cy‑Fair, ending in a 2–2 draw. Cy‑Fair struck early, but the Stangs answered back with a highlight‑reel goal from Ava Sadlowski, who launched a beautiful shot from the far right side that curled into the top left corner of the net to bring the game to 1–1.

Stangs started 2nd half 2:1 after a sharp cross from Ava, finished calmly by Brooke Naponic. Cy‑Fair once again broke the tie late for a 2:2 equalizer.

The Stangs will face the Bobcats again soon—with a strong chance to turn the draw into a win.

Dominant 8–0 Victory Over Cy‑Creek

The Mustangs closed out the week in decisive fashion with an 8–0 shutout over Cy‑Creek.

Mary Mae Bechtol opened the scoring with confidence, knocking in a PK from the 25‑yard line. At the 32‑minute mark, Ava added to the momentum with another strong finish. A well‑placed corner from Talia Camin set up Brooke for Memorial’s third goal.

The scoring continued with goals from Annie Macey and Corrine Adams, followed by a great sequence where Sarah Monk cleaned up an opportunity created by Reese PancioliReese then closed out the match in style—adding two more goals to cap the 8‑0 win.

A complete team performance and an all‑around strong game for the Mustangs.

JVA

Mustangs Ladies JVA Run Riot in District: Cy Fair Overwhelmed 5–0

Under the bright pressure of district competition, Memorial’s JVA side delivered a ruthless, front-foot performance, striking early and never letting up as Cy Fair were swept aside in emphatic fashion.

The tone was set almost immediately by #22 Allison Lee, whose early shots on goal forced Cy Fair into retreat. Lee’s second breakaway flashed just wide, but the warning had been issued. Moments later, the breakthrough arrived: Lee combined sharply with #25 Caroline Clark, who slipped #9 Sophie Bishop through for a calm, clinical finish. Memorial was deservedly ahead, 1–0.

The floodgates opened. A measured cross from #2 Emily Rodriguez found Lee, who finished with confidence to double the advantage. Minutes later, #10 Sophia Mitri whipped in a dangerous ball that spilled loose off the goalkeeper’s hands, where Rodriguez pounced to make it 3–0. Memorial was rampant, their movement and tempo far beyond Cy Fair’s reach.

Pressure continued from all angles. #13 Camille Naponic and #20 Caroline Lane both tested the keeper, and from a corner swung in by Mitri, Lane rose to help the ball on, allowing Naponic to apply the final touch. At 4–0 by halftime, the match was effectively decided.

If Cy Fair hoped for relief after the break, it never came. Naponic struck the post early, Mitri forced another save, and #12 Mollie Mattingly and #3 Lilah Camarillo both tried their luck from distance. The Mustangs’ patience was rewarded when Bishop found Clark, whose curling strike from the top of the box bent beautifully into the upper corner for the fifth.

Late chances followed—Clark releasing Bishop and Lee for another effort off the post, and Bishop setting up Camarillo for a shot smartly saved—but the work was already done.

At the final whistle, Memorial stood tall with a commanding 5–0 district victory: organized at the back, relentless in midfield, and devastating in attack—a complete performance that sent a clear message to the rest of the district.

Mustangs Run Riot: JVA Overpowers Cy Creek in District Statement Win 7-0

On a crisp district afternoon, the Memorial Mustangs Girls JVA delivered a ruthless attacking performance, dismantling Cy Creek with seven unanswered goals and leaving no doubt about their intent as district play rolls on.

First-Half Avalanche

Memorial wasted no time turning pressure into punishment. Early dominance paid off when #17 Charlotte Taylor opened the scoring, timing her run perfectly to finish with authority. Minutes later, Taylor struck again—calm, composed, and clinical—putting the Mustangs firmly in control.

The tempo never dipped. #3 Lilah Camarillo made it three with a sharp finish after a beautifully weighted assist from #13 Camille Naponic, whose vision from the back and wide channels consistently cracked the Cy Creek shape.

Then came the Lyle show. #5 Lexi Lyle powered home Memorial’s fourth before adding a fifth with a thunderous header, rising above everyone to meet a pinpoint cross from Naponic. Just before the break, Lyle completed her first-half hat trick, pouncing again as the Mustangs headed to halftime with the match firmly put away.

Second-Half Seal

If there was any doubt about intensity after the interval, #13 Camille Naponic erased it. Naponic capped a commanding all-around performance with a goal of her own, stepping forward to finish confidently and underline Memorial’s total control from back line to final touch.

The Verdict 7-0

Seven goals. Multiple scorers. Relentless movement and balance across the pitch. This was a complete district performance—one that spoke to depth, chemistry, and a squad growing sharper by the week. Cy Creek had no answers, and the Mustangs marched on with another emphatic district win.

JVB

Mustangs crush The Woodlands High School Highlanders 6-0 to extend their record to 9-0-1.

The Highlanders came out strong, but it didn't take long for the Mustangs to get on the scoreboard first. Launching the attack was #3 Sofia Darnell with a smart sharp cross to #10 Ana Sofia Ayala who sent it in to make it 1-0.

Soon after, #23 Poppy Kinsel kicked a bullet to the goal for #4 Elise Erdin to score, making it 2-0.

Before the half ended, #25 Cate Cummings fired a shot cross field in perfect position for #19 Tilley Horton to score, ending the half at 3-0.

Mustangs doubled their goals in the second half. #22 Michaela Shapland sent a solo shot to the back of the net. #4 Elise Erdin sent a through-pass to #19 Tilley Horton who fired it in. With 5 minutes left, #7 Caroline Fargason followed up on a corner kick from 20 yards out to put in goal number 6.

The Mustang defense kept the Highlanders scoreless. #15 Sophia Rendino ran down several key moves by the Highlanders to shoot on goal. #14 Charlotte Schuetze removed any attempts down the middle, and #16 Matilda Gordon took the ball from the offense in key moments.

Mustangs extend their record to 9-0-1. They will take on the Bruin Bears from West Brook HS in Beaumont next Wednesday.

MEMORIAL SWEEPS CY-FAIR AND CY-CREEK

Varsity Boys Leading District

The Mustangs continue with their spectacular run by beating Cy Fair 2-1 and Cy Creek 3-0. The game against Cy Fair was a bit rusty. Both teams were being physical and ball possession was inconsistent for both teams. The Mustangs were able to win thanks to some individual brilliance from Farid Alipaz #10. In the first goal, Connor Portman #9 was fouled in the box and the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Alipaz #10 stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way, shooting the ball to the bottom left corner. Minutes later, Alipaz #10 dribbled past 4 defenders into the right side of the box and rocketed the ball to the roof of the net. The boys went 2-0 at halftime but Cy Fair was still showing signs of life. They managed to score a screamer into the top left corner from outside the box, but that was it. The defense with Josh Ramirez #12Zach Kline #18James Howard #23 and Kai Feldhaus #3 was able to hold it down in the last 15 minutes despite Cy Fair going all out in attack. The game against Cy Creek, however, was complete domination from the men in red. The first half was a bit slow, with only one goal from Jose Corona #15Rado Lekic #7 had the ball on the right wing. He beat his man and put in a cross to a wide open Corona #15 who was able to tap it in. The boys went into halftime looking to improve their performance, and they did. The second goal of the day was pure magic from Ryan Yilshal #14. Yilshal #14 had the ball on the left wing near the end of the pitch and two defenders were in front of him. Instead of playing it back, Yilshal #14 flicked the ball over both of the defenders and volleyed the ball to the bottom right corner from an extremely tight angle. Lastly, Corona #15 got his break with a header right over the keeper, sealing the game and giving the Mustangs another 5 points, giving them a total of 11 points on the table and 1ST PLACE IN DISTRICT!

JV

JVA vs. Cy Fair

On a cool night of District play, the JVA Mustangs found themselves locked in a defensive chess match with Cy Fair for the majority of the first half of play. From the opening whistle, the Mustangs leaned on the steady work of the midfielders, lead by Parker Basarowich #7 and Emre Meyers #10 whose early pressure created multiple shot attempts that kept the Cy Fair keeper alert. The second half brought the breakthrough Memorial had been searching for. After winning a corner in the 23rd minute, Meyers #10 curled in a dangerous ball that sparked chaos inside the box. Amidst the scramble, Grayson Armpriester #13 read the moment perfectly and drove home a shot for a hard‑earned 1–0 lead. The Mustangs nearly doubled the advantage minutes later. Holden Price #19 slipped free on the right side and ripped a shot toward the top corner, missing by only inches. Moments after, Kayvan Rafiei #8 applied sharp pressure, forcing a turnover that sprang Price #19 into space again, for another near-miss. On the defensive end, keeper Solomon Alsaad #0 delivered a highlight stop on a dangerous Cy Fair free kick. Armpriester #13Parker Fournier-Grande #4, Lewsan Brandt #5, Edgar Rincon #2, and Dylan Thompson #3 stayed composed and physical at the back, shutting down attacks before they became real danger. The Mustangs continued pushing for insurance as another Meyers #10 corner ricocheted around the box before landing at the feet of Basarowich #7, whose rebound strike demanded a tough save. Soon after, Nico Barroeta #12 linked with Shane Roach #6 on a clean buildup, only for Roach’s shot to sail just high and left. Cy Fair attempted a late surge, but Solomon #0 responded again with a confident save. The final major chance came from a beautifully layered sequence: Brandt #5 to Basarowich #7 to Price #19Price’s shot was excellent, but a diving tip from the Cy Fair keeper pushed it just wide. In the end, the Mustangs’ discipline, defensive steel, and relentless pressure carried them across the finish line for a 1–0 victory!

JVA vs. Cy Creek

On a cool, crisp Saturday, the JVA Mustangs struck early against Cy Creek when a pinpoint cross from Shane Roach #6 met the run of Jack Valdivieso #9, who buried the finish for a beautiful 1–0 lead. Moments later, a setback struck as Dylan Thompson #3 exited with an injury, forcing Tyee Dang #15 to rotate into the back line - an adjustment the Mustangs handled with composure. The midfield then controlled the tempo, while the back line delivered one of its most disciplined halves of the season. Julian Owen #11 shined at right back with smart positioning and confident tackles. In the center, Lewsan Brandt #5 and Parker FournierGrande #4 combined for a crucial defensive shutdown on a dangerous Cy Creek attack. Memorial pushed for a second goal, highlighted by a sequence where a header deflection off Brandt #5 rattled the crossbar before Grayson Armpriester #13’s header missed just wide. Another corner produced another nearmiss header by Brandt #5, as the Mustangs kept pressure high. At the heart of it all was keeper Solomon Alsaad #0, who delivered multiple standout saves - charging off his line to stop a breakaway and later diving to deny a Cy Creek free kick. The second half brought more attacking flashes, including an electric run from Kayvan Rafiei #8 and another strong chance created off an Owen #11 throw in to Roach #6. Defensively, chaos struck late, but Solomon #0Fournier Grande #4Armpriester #13, and Owen #11 battled through a wild scramble to preserve the lead. A final freekick lofted into the box was calmly secured by Solomon #0, sealing a gritty 1–0 Mustangs victory.

Memorial hosted Cy Fair in a home game on Wednesday night. The Bobcats struck first in the 12th minute after an unlucky ball played off a goal kick for the Mustangs. From there on out it was all Memorial.  Curt Collins immediately leveled the score with a strike to the right side of the goal off a nice assist from Griff Varnado. Later in the first half, a strong cross from Chris Sierra to Abraham Palma resulted in a Palma shot that was deflected by the goalie but then cleaned up by Varnado to put the Mustangs up 2 – 1. The defense played strong all game, with multiple stops by Andrew McRae and Abraham Colin controlling the middle.  Oliver Jackson finished the scoring for Memorial with a rocket from outside the box in the 40th minute.

Mustangs 3 – Bobcats 1.

Freshman Boys Dominate Cy Creek

In the Saturday matchup, Memorial was again at home, this time hosting the Cypress Creek Cougars.  Huangsan Brandt got the scoring started for the Mustangs at the nine minute mark with a shot off the dribble after a nice pass from Griff Varnado. Just before half, Varnado got a goal of his own off a rebound from a long free kick by Oliver Jackson. Much of the second half was scoreless with Memorial’s Seunghwan Lee and Locke Kazmann controlling the middle of the field. In the 58th minute, Greyson Ehlers scored from short range off a fantastic throw-in from Felipe Carvalho. With just seconds to go, Abraham Palma found the back of the net off a fine assist from Jackson. Mustangs 4 – Cougars 0.
