A Message from the Vestry and Rector of Christ Church
Dear Friends,

We are excited to inform you about our upcoming sanctuary renovation.  This will include new flooring, new "cathedral red" carpet in the tower and chancel, newly painted walls and ceiling, new light fixtures in annex to replace the fluorescent lights, and other cosmetic details.  The decisions for this renovation have been made by our Sanctuary Renovation Committee-which includes Allan Dear (junior warden), Nikki Yarbrough (senior warden), Tammy Borders (vestry member), Marvin Dickey (vestry member), Sally Honeycutt (vestry member), Steph Johnson (facilities manager), Anne Singletary (longtime member representing the 8:00 service), Jan Carter (longtime member representing the 10:00 service), and Dave Johnson (rector)-and approved by the vestry.  The cost of these renovations has already been covered through a combination of monies from the Gabard bequest to Christ Church, surplus monies from the Gabard Building capital campaign that were received after that mortgage had been paid off, and our operating budget-in other words, through the immense generosity of the members of Christ Church.   Renovation work will begin on Monday, June 12 and will continue for several weeks.  During the renovation work all weekly services-including Sunday morning 8:00 and 10:00 services and Sunday evening 6:00 vespers, Wednesday evening 6:00 service, and Thursday morning 7:00 service-will be held at their usual times in the Parish Hall.  We bid your prayers and patience during this renovation work, we thank you for your generous support of Christ Church, and we look forward to worshipping soon with you in our renovated sanctuary.

Yours In Christ,

Nikki Yarbrough
Dave Johnson

Lunch Bunch Needs
First and third Saturdays each month
We need fruit cups for Lunch Bunch.  Please consider picking up a six pack of fruit cups when you do your family grocery shopping.  The children love the fruit and the Lunch Bunch volunteers appreciate it.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
DR Mission Trip is June 12-19, 2017
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the many members of the Home Team who have donated funds and supplies for use by the mission team in the Dominican Republic. As the missioners on the Go Team start to pack up all of the VBS supplies, dental hygiene items, and sports equipment needed for the team projects in a series of duffle bags, they give thanks to all of the generous donors at Christ Church and other churches and groups who made all of this possible. In addition to funding supplies, contributions also paid for the construction of the house in the village of El Pedregal, where this week the village workers have started to erect the roof beams.

To see recent photos of this house taken by our friends in El Pedregal, click here. Photographs of the Go Team's preparations, including our 2017 team t-shirt design, are in this Facebook album now. Depending on internet access in El Pedregal, photographs taken during the trip will be added here daily.

Soup Kitchen Help Needed
Tuesday, July 4th
For the third year Christ Church is preparing bag lunches for 200 people who depend on the Soup Kitchen for meals.

The Soup Kitchen closes the week of July 4 th every year so that the staff can have a break.

T his year our day is Tuesday, July 4.  We are finished with everything by 1:00 pm, so you'll have time to enjoy July 4 festivities with your family.

We need contributions to purchase food and supplies, sandwich makers and lunch packers on the morning - 9:30 until 11:00 - volunteers to distribute the meals at the Soup Kitchen, volunteers to bake the turkey breasts the weekend before.

If you can help with any of these, please contact Sandra Fletcher,  or 244-5033.

If you would like to make a monetary contribution for this ministry, please send your checks to Christ Church with a notation that it is for the Soup Kitchen lunch.

Thank you so much for your support of this important ministry.

This year we will also give small wooden crosses with each lunch with a word to keep the cross with them and remember that God loves them and is always with them.
