Monthly Theme: Fertilizing Our Future
Affirmation of the Week: I set my sights beyond the horizon,
aligning my intentions with the future I desire.
| | Rev. GO's Affirmation from Last Sunday: | |
Town Hall Thank You from Rev. Gil
I wanted to take a minute to thank all of you and let you know how excited I am about where we are going as a community with your leadership.
First of all, let's thank Sheryl and Jennifer for their willingness and commitment! You have stepped into leading the Board with intention and grace.
Also, we congratulate and officially welcome Brian Kurtz and Lou Cimalore as powerful additions to our leadership! Their experience and excitement make their commitment clear.
The presentations were straightforward, concise and transparent. I trust that those who were present would be able to dispel rumors going forward and/or redirect them to the appropriate place to share those concerns. Sue's statement about transparency being two ways was a great reminder and one we need to keep at the forefront.
Thank you to Nancy for your vulnerability, Sheryl for your clarity, and Jennifer for bringing it all together!! And to all of us for showing up!

505 YVC Update
RGCSL is one of the co-sponsors of the 505 Youth Volunteer Corps. Rev. Gil and Mark Ayers serve as the Co-Advisors.
The community service organization has continued to remain active. Recently, several members joined Dignity Mission at La Placitas Presbyterian Church and helped create 2,180 care packages for refugees at the overwhelmed shelters in Ciudad Juarez. Additionally, the group was part of packing 1,250 cartons of pinto beans at Roadrunner Food Bank for distribution to fight food insecurity throughout New Mexico.
We received very good news about our graduating Co-Chairs' college choices. Sanjeev Perumal will be attending the University of San Diego, where he received a Trustee Scholarship based on his academic achievements, community involvement, and leadership. Olivia Yang was one of 28 students selected for UNM Hospital’s prestigious BAMD program. Additionally, she received the Regents Scholarship, which will cover full tuition, room and board, books, and all other fees.
We are very proud of both because their involvement and initiative on behalf of the 505-YVC played the critical role in their college admissions and scholarships.

National Day of Action
By Sherry Noone
Tamara Williams and I attended the Hands Off! National Day of Action at the Civic Center Plaza on Saturday, April 5. It was exhilarating to see thousands of people uniting for a more just, ethical government. The energy of the crowd was uplifting and motivating. The speakers we heard were articulate, passionate and committed. Signage was often humorous and always to the point.
The one thing that really touched my heart was the very large Ukrainian flag. After
supporting Ukraine for a couple of years, I could feel the strong emotions of the person holding this flag. To me, that flag represents what we as a country could experience at
our most extreme. It goes without saying that this is not the last protest either of us will attend! For information on upcoming demonstrations, see Hands Off 2025 and May Day
Strong.

| | It was brought to our attention that some may be uncomfortable supporting the 5 Wishes organization. Since the intention of this offering is not dependent on any particular organization, we have created a new, more descriptive, title and updated all advertising. This class is now called "Peace of Mind Planning for an Elegant Exit." Additionally, although the dates and times were correct, it should be noted that the class meets weekly on Tuesdays, not Wednesdays. Thank you! | |
You can register here for Peace of Mind Planning for an Elegant Exit
(formerly Five Wishes)
Peace of Mind Planning for an Elegant Exit (formerly Five Wishes) as an advance directive that goes beyond medical wishes and also addresses personal, emotional and spiritual needs. The form is designed to help people prepare for the possibility of illness and incapacity.
This is a series of weekly Zoom classes lasting 4 weeks starting April 22 and ending May 13. at 7 PM - 9 PM MDT (6-8 PM PDT, 8-10 PM CDT, & 9-11 PM EDT). NOTE: Registration closes 4-20-2025.

Save the Date
Spiritual Economics starts Tuesdays, beginning May 20th and will continue for 8 weeks. Registration details coming soon.
Practitioners Marilyn O'Leary and Maria Dion will be teaching this class.
This course is not a training in basic economics. Rather, it is an exploration of our conscious and unconscious beliefs, thoughts and words about financial prosperity and our relationship to God and money ─ and the lifestyle money provides. During these eight weeks, we examine our current prosperity perspective and make choices toward a new perspective and a new life of prosperity and gratitude. Required text for this course: Spiritual Economics by Eric Butterworth.

EQNX Jazztet - April 18, 2025
The EQNX Jazzztet is a group of like-minded musicians that play music from all sorts of genres: Jazz, Funk, Latin with a little bit of originals and genre-cross exploration just for fun. They primarily like to play in the hard bop style of jazz using a modern take of the jazz sounds of Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Duke Ellington and others too numerous to mention. They like to say that "We are Classic Jazz with a modern twist." https://youtu.be/eNChWDjEwEI
