The weather is warming up, outdoor dining is resuming, community events are being scheduled, and folks are beginning to plan their outdoor activities in Middlesex County and beyond! Make sure you check out our brochure directory to experience some of the best places in Connecticut, and our community calendar for local events in our region.

Before we begin this week’s bulletin, I would like to put a bow on some great events that took place last week. On Wednesday, our Legislative Committee hosted Speaker of the House Matt Ritter as part of our Legislative Leadership Series. During this event, over 50 members of the Middlesex Chamber had the opportunity to engage Speaker Ritter in productive conversations. The following day, we held our 2025 Small Business Awards ceremony in which we presented 12 Middlesex Chamber businesses with awards for their exceptional contributions to our community. Then, on Saturday evening, our Real Estate Council hosted their annual Comedy Night & Auction in support of the chamber’s Recovery Employment Program. Over 200 individuals joined us for a great evening of laughs and fundraising. The chamber team is officially off and running into our spring/ summer events!

Looking ahead to next week, chamber members and their key employees are invited to join the chamber staff and fellow business members for our upcoming Business After Work, hosted by the Wadsworth Mansion, Middletown on Wednesday, May 14 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. We are asking a suggested donation of $5.00 to raise funds for Chamber Youth Programs at this event. This is a great networking opportunity, so don't forget your business cards! To register for what is always a great event, please click here.

The following week, our HR Council will be holding a workshop titled, “Recruitment, Engagement, and Hiring”. Join us on Tuesday, May 20 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. via Zoom as we explore effective strategies for attracting top talent, fostering candidate engagement, and building a successful hiring process. A special thank you to Allison Ebner, President, Employers Association of the NorthEast (EANE) for presenting to our group. Click here to join us.

There is still time to register for our 2025 Apple Nine Golf Tournament, scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025. While our Premier Tournament is currently sold out, we are still accepting players to join us for a great half-day of golf! Enjoy:

·        A golf clinic with Lyman's PGA & LPGA Instructors

·        9 holes of golf with a cart

·        Lunch, cocktail hour, and dinner

This relaxed event lets you connect with fellow Chamber members and join the post-golf festivities, including dinner and awards. Our nine-hole tournament is perfect for beginners, or those that can’t commit to a full day of golf! To register, please email danielle@middlesexchamber.com.

Calling all manufacturers, please join us on Wednesday, May 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at CT State Precision Manufacturing Lab at Vinal Technical High School, Middletown for an evening of networking as well as a presentation by Paul Lavoie, Chief Manufacturing Officer, State of Connecticut. This event is specific to manufacturers. To register, click here.

As you can see, we are gearing up for a busy stretch, and we can’t wait to engage with you throughout the region!
