Miss Bergan, PE Teacher for the Day
Mr. Bergan, PE Teacher for the Day
PE Teacher for the Day!
Malin "Miss Bergan" from 5th grade and Asher “Mr. Bergan” from 3rd grade got to be PE Teacher for the Day while Mr. F was just another student. Malin and Asher got to be excused from class, pick the activities and exercises, control the whistle, and pass out candy as a reward. They also made Mr. F do some strenous workouts. This was a winning auction item from the 2023 auction.
If your child would like the chance to be PE Teacher for the Day, be sure to lift your bid paddle high at the auction next month!

Dear Families,
Please save the date for our next Parent Club event on Tuesday, March 26th at 6:30pm in the gym. Max Stossel from Social Awakening will be joining us to discuss the topic of technology and social media's impact on children. Max is an internationally renowned speaker on this topic and we are lucky to host him at our school. This presentation will be geared for parents with students of ALL ages. We are hoping to have a large majority of our parent community at this amazing event. Parents will receive a volunteer hour and free dress pass for their student(s) for their attendance. Thank you for saving the date. See you on the 26th!
Each Friday during Lent the St. Brendan Church has one ministry group sponsor a Soup Night (which is followed by Stations of the Cross). For many years, the school community has sponsored the last Soup Supper of Lent, coinciding with the Living Stations of the Cross, beautifully dramatized by the Youth Group of St. Stephen the Martyr Parish. This is a very popular night for the Soup and Stations, thus requiring lots of soups. We hope you will join us on March 22nd at 6:30 for some yummy soups followed by Living Stations of the cross at 8:00pm. We are still in need of more volunteers to provide soup as well as to serve soup: https://stbrendan.volunteerhub.com/vv2/lp/SoupSupper/
Thank you for all you do for our students and our school.
Blessings,
Catherine Shumate

On Monday, St. Brendan’s playground was overrun with snakes! Students spent their recesses mimicking St. Patrick and driving all the snakes out of St. Brendan. Each class worked really hard to get all the snakes and each recess had a winning class with the most snakes collected. In the Preschool/PreK recess, Mrs. Stevenson’s class took home the prize with 95 snakes found. In the elementary recess, 3rd grade came out ahead with 84 snakes found. In the middle school lunch, 5th grade brought in a whopping 113 snakes, to become the middle school and overall school winners. The winning classes won some candy as their prizes. Thank you to the many volunteers whose hard work made this possible: Erik Warner, Molly Burdeen, Steve Fishman, Matt Francois, Meighan Lailey, Mrs. Roughton, and Christine Mandley. Check out the parent page on Facebook for photos of the event.
This Friday, March 22nd, the school community is sponsoring the Soup Supper and Stations of the Cross at St. Brendan Church. Soup Supper begins at 6:30 PM and the Living Stations of the Cross, presented by St Stephen the Martyr Youth Group begins at 8 PM. These Living Stations are wonderfully produced and highly recommended, really helping one feel immersed in Jesus’ passion. My children and family have been attending for about 15 years and it is truly a fantastic way to kick off Holy Week. We could still use a few soups, so if you are able, please consider signing up on Volunteer Hub to bring a soup.

This week’s Kindness Journal is about a friend. Call a friend’s family and thank them for being great parents, siblings, or guardians, and show appreciation for how they helped raise such a wonderful human being. The Kindness Challenge for this week goes great with Lent: Donate items to a clothing, canned food or toy drive.

Looking ahead to Holy Week, on Holy Thursday Father Wichert and the 8th grade students will lead the school in a prayer service at 8:45 a.m. in the church. On Good Friday, the 7th grade students will lead us in a living station of the cross at 9 a.m. in the church. Families are welcome to join us!
We have a NOON dismissal on Good Friday and there will be NO extended care in the afternoon. Noon is a significant time as it begins the three hours of Christ’s suffering on the cross. It is appropriate to observe the time from noon until Christ’s death at 3 p.m. All students and staff will exit the building to carpool in SILENCE at noon to observe this time.
