She is the Director of Technology for the Center for Research Innovation and Scholarship (CRIS) at Texas Children's Hospital, and Chair of ACERS (AI Committee for Excellence in Education, Research and Scholarship) at Baylor College of Medicine. She will lead our Pediatric Grand Rounds session Thursday morning, focusing on "Embracing the Transformative Potential of AI for Healthcare Professionals," followed by an interactive workshop on "AI Applications in Medical Education." FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: HEALTH EQUITY RESEARCH CORE

The Health Equity Research Core (HERC) has issued a request for proposals for the Faculty Pilot Grant Program. This program is made possible through a contribution from the Intermountain Foundation at Primary Children’s Hospital. One-year pilot grants of $25,000 are available in either of the following areas:

  • Research on child health in low- or middle-income countries and/or with marginalized populations in the United States (e.g., immigrants, refugees, underserved urban environments, rural and tribal areas)
  • Research that aims to understand and/or address disparities in child health, including disparities by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, language preference, and gender identity


Eligible applicants must have a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics or a division that serves Primary Children’s Hospital (e.g., Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Dermatology). 


A preliminary concept survey is due on September 15, and the full application is due on October 15. Faculty who intend to apply for a HERC pilot grant should consider registering for the Fall Grant Writing Workshop - September 26-28, Midway.

Primary Children's is one of 26 hospitals participating in the NIH-sponsored HIKO STEC study to compare traditional versus hyperhydration approach to treating STEC (Shiga toxin producing E. coli) infection. Please review the informational flyer for information on how to refer patients to the study, iCentra orders for STEC monitoring and treatment, and who to go to with clinical care questions.
