Christ the King (our sister Episcopal church downtown) is having a dedication ceremony for their Civil Rights Mural on the side of their new church located at 110 McKey Street in Valdosta on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The wall mural will be dedicated in honor of human and civil rights. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend and support Christ the King.

Christ Church holds a Morning Prayer service at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. Morning Prayer will be held on Wednesdays through September 27^th. Please add Morning Prayer to your calendar.

Christ Church will have Evening Prayer on Mondays beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please plan to join us.

Live-Streaming this week of the 10 a.m. worship service on August 20, 2023 will begin at 9:55 a.m. If for any reason we experience Technical difficulties with the Live-streaming, a recording of the service will be uploaded and a link sent to the congregation at a later time.

Feature for in-person worship - Our hearing assistance feature is available as part of our sound system. This feature uses your smartphone, earbuds, or hearing aids to bring the sound directly into your ears. An information sheet is linked here, and copies are also available from the ushers or the media booth staff.

We need church volunteers to help Grace Café and ECM at “The Happening” on August 24, from 1 PM to 4 PM. “The Happening” is an event held on the front lawn of VSU to make college students aware of all the clubs, community organizations, and opportunities that VSU has to offer. Grace Café has a tent for the event. There will be some interns in attendance, but we need a few parishioners to attend and greet students as well. Let’s get together to celebrate the opening of the College Football season! The Blazers begin their season on Saturday, September 2 at 7 PM.

We will set up food at Grace Café beginning at 5 PM. Bring your favorite tailgate dish to share. The Men in Blue will grill hamburgers, hotdogs, and sausages for us. All Christ Church friends and family are welcome to attend.

Please note: Alcoholic beverages will only be permitted under/around the Men in Blue cook shed. Please do not bring alcohol inside Grace Café.

The 2023 convention of the Diocese of Georgia will be held November 9-11, 2023 in Augusta, GA. Christ Church will select three delegates and three alternates to represent Christ Church at convention. Candidates must be age 18 or older and pledging members of Christ Church. If you are interested in representing Christ Church at the Diocesan Convention please contact Kim Dudley at the church office. The Vestry will be selection representatives at the September Vestry meeting. Please let the office know of your interest by September 12, 2023.

Foyer Groups are now forming for the fall.

Anyone interested in meeting once a month or so with others from Christ Church, for a meal, are welcome. There will be a sign-up sheet in the parish hall or you can call or email Jeani Synyard at: jeanisynyard@gmail.com or 229-834-6004. Foyer groups should start sometime in September.

Sunday Evening Vespers - a group of Christ Church members meet on Zoom (2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays) at 6:00 p.m. to read the Compline Service, pages 127-135 in the Book of Common Prayer and for friendly conversation afterwards. The first and third Sundays of the month we will meet in-person, but will make an audio recording available after Vespers for those unable to attend in-person.
