All City offices are closed on Friday, December 24 for the Christmas Holiday, and Friday, December 31, for the New Year's Holiday. Special collections will only occur on Thursday of those weeks.

Purple Line Update
On or about November 15, 2021, the sidewalk adjacent to the College Park Bus Loop from River Road (identified in the graphic here) will be closed through the end of January. Signage will be in place to guide bicyclists and pedestrians to the open sidewalk. Work may take place 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and weekends as needed through completion of the work. COVID-19 Update
City and University leadership are in close communication and will notify the community as updates become available. All City COVID-19 related updates will be available at www.collegeparkmd.gov/covid19.
Due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the area, the demand for testing and vaccines at the Express Healthcare (near the College Park Fire Department) has increased significantly. Prince George’s County Police and the City have taken steps to protect safety and minimize traffic disruptions in the area. However, drivers may experience lane closures and some delay due to the number of people using this facility.
During the holiday season, help protect yourself and loved ones while still enjoying holiday traditions by continuing to wear proper fitting masks indoors, washing hands often, and maintaining at least six feet in physical distance. One of the best ways to protect yourself and others is to get a COVID-19 vaccine and/or a booster as soon as possible. Vaccines are available for anyone 5 and up; to find a vaccination clinic near you, please visit: https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/pages/vaccine.

Farmers Market Drop Off Information
Do you miss getting your fresh produce, meats, desserts and coffee from the Hollywood Farmers Market every week? Some of the Hollywood Farmers Market vendors are doing a pre order drop off this winter at Duvall Field. 2021 ARPA Assistance Grants
The City has established two programs to assist businesses, non-profits, and residents address negative financial impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The American Rescue Program Act (ARPA) has provided funds that the City is using for these and many other projects. The goal of these programs is to help our residents, businesses and non-profits get back on their feet and better prepared to be financially successful in the future. The Department is located at 9217 51st Ave. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wood mulch is back in stock. All deliveries are finished for the season, but material is available year-round for pick up, Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Bring a shovel and containers and be prepared to dig.

Foam Recycling
A temporary drop-off container will be at the entrance to Public Works for Styrofoam recycling. Bring in your holiday foam packaging to keep it out of the landfill.

Right-Of-Way Pruning
City crews are working to prune vegetation, tree and/or shrub branches, that are overhanging into the public right-of-way to improve clearance for pedestrians on the sidewalk and vehicular clearance on the street. Pruning may include City trees & shrubs as well as vegetation growing from private property. The crews are currently working in the College Park Woods neighborhood, Crystal Springs, Daniels Park and Hollywood neighborhoods. Work will continue through the winter. Please contact the horticulturist at DPW with questions.

Curbside Leaf Collection Tips

Bagging is not necessary during leaf collection with vacuums. Grass can be included in your leaf piles, but no sticks, branches, vines, or woody materials (these items require a special collection, call to schedule).
- Rake leaves to the curb but do not put them in the street. Pile leaves away from cars and storm drains as the leaf vacuum cannot reach around cars.
- Remove tree limbs, rocks, trash, and other debris from leaves to be collected. These items damage the equipment and cause delays.
- Noise and dust may be noticeable as dry conditions generate more dust. We apologize for any inconvenience.
- Weekly yard waste collections on regular trash collection days are ongoing, if yours is inadvertently missed, please call for a special collection 240-487-3590.

Updates During Winter Emergencies
The Department of Public Works plows and treats City maintained streets and City parking lots to clear snow and ice during winter storms. Public Works crews are staffed around the clock during snow emergencies to clear the 51 road miles of City streets. For questions, or to report a City road that hasn't been plowed, please contact the Department at 240-487-3590.

12/10 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Berwyn Road at 49th Avenue. 8 warnings were issued.
12/14 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Saint Andrews Place and Davidson Street. 6 warnings were issued.
12/15 Contract officer responded to a call for service for a shoplifter in the 4900 block of Edgewood Road. Contract officer located the suspect at Edgewood Road and Baltimore Avenue. The property was returned to the business and a report was filed.
12/16 Contract officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with loud exhaust at Baltimore Avenue and Hartwick Road. The driver was issued 7 citations and 2 SERO’s.
12/16 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Saint Andrews Place and Duke Street. 3 citations and 4 warnings were issued.
