Half of home heating fires are reported during the months of December, January and February!
Install wood burning stoves following manufacturer's instructions or have a professional do the installation. All fuel-burning equipment should be vented to the outside to avoid carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
Install and maintain Carbon Monoxide alarms to avoid the risk of CO poisoning. If you smell gas in your gas heater, do not light the appliance. Leave the home immediately and call your local fire department or gas company.
Tips from the National Fire Protection Association.

Future Park at the End of Odessa Road Community Meeting
Monday, January 13
7:00 p.m.
Youth and Family Services
Recreation Room - 4912 Nantucket Road
The City of College Park is in the process of planning for a new play area in the vacant parcel at the end of Odessa Road. There is neighborhood interest to create a park for children to play that is close to their home, so they do not have to cross busy Rhode Island Avenue. The area bordering the properties on 52nd Avenue and Palco Place was identified as a suitable location for this park.
This community meeting will provide more information about the project and provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and make suggestions related to the proposal.
