Count me in College Park!
The 2020 Census is coming this March! The City of College Park was undercounted in the 2010 Census. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 1 million children across the U.S. were not counted. The Census population statistics are used to determine how to spend billions of dollars in federal and state funds annually. Much of that money funds programs that directly affect children. They include nutrition assistance, Head Start, special education, foster care, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and housing assistance to help a child’s family. Young children should be counted in College Park if they live and sleep in College Park most of the time. A newborn should be counted if he or she was born on or before April 1, 2020. The City of College Park urges all households to fill out the form online, over the phone, or by mail.

Bike and Scooter Share Updates
VeoRide bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters have additional designated parking locations across the City of College Park and on campus. Bikes and e-bikes can be parked at VeoRide parking zones or at any public bike rack. All e-scooters must be parked in designated parking areas shown in the VeoRide app. New e-scooter parking is located at Leonardtown Community Center, Terrapin Trail Garage, Lot 4B at the Xfinity Center, Eppley Recreation Center, Denton/Easton Hall, Cole/Union Lane Garage, Skinner Hall, Mowatt Garage, Lot 15, Lot 1B/Clarice, Tawes West, The Hall, LIDL, and Duvall Field.

On campus, the Department of Transportation Services will begin enforcing e-scooter parking regulations this March. Maryland Vehicle Law considers an electric low speed scooter to be a bicycle in the state of Maryland and therefore must be operated on the road and follow all traffic laws, including but not limited to stopping at stop signs, obeying traffic signals, and riding in the direction of traffic.
