Hollywood Dog Park Ribbon Cutting

This is a Federal Communications Commission Program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying households. Purple Line Construction Alert
Pedestrian Detour on Baltimore Avenue and Rossborough Lane

On June 1, 2021, the Purple Line implemented a pedestrian detour along Baltimore Avenue (Route 1) between Hotel Drive and Fraternity Row. This detour will remain in effect until approximately August 31, 2021. The bus stop adjacent to Ritchie Coliseum will remain open during this time. The detour can be viewed here: bit.ly/3yw0KSQ.
New Bulk Trash Changes Started July 1, 2021

For a single-family, owner-occupied residence:
  • Up to four (4) bulky refuse collections per calendar year, with a maximum total of 20 bulky refuse items, will be free of charge to the resident.

For a single-family rental property that pays for City trash services:
  • Up to four (4) bulky refuse collections per calendar year, with a maximum total of 29 bulky refuse items, will be free of charge.
 
For quantities and/or frequency more than stated above, a $20 collection fee per item over the allowable number of items will be imposed. A waiver may be available for major extenuating circumstances on a limited basis.
 
Please note: Residents will have the opportunity to bring items to Public Works at no cost during the six cleanup Saturdays which are usually held in the Fall and Spring.

All bulky refuse collections must be scheduled in advance and the caller must identify the quantity and type of items when scheduling a collection.

Bulky refuse items must be set out neatly. Department of Public Works staff will provide guidance when you make your appointment. Call 240-487-3590 or email [email protected].

The City of College Park is currently offering free summer parking at the City’s Downtown Garage all-day Saturdays and Sundays and weekday evenings after 5:00 p.m. Hurry, this promotion ends on August 22, 2021! Visit your favorite Downtown College Park restaurant or business this summer!

The Jack Perry Award

From May 15 to July 15 each year, any resident, neighborhood association or organization in the City may submit a nomination for the Jack Perry Award. Nominations should be submitted in writing to the City Clerk for the City of College Park, 8400 Baltimore Avenue, Suite 375, College Park, MD, 20740, or by e-mail to [email protected]. Nominations will be reviewed by a Committee that includes a member of the Perry family. This non-monetary award will be presented by the City Council in the fall. 6/24 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Berwyn Road and 48th Avenue. 2 citations were issued.

Our monthly community/public safety zoom meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2021. Please join City Elected Officials, Police, Department of Public Services staff, and your neighbors from all around the City, for an informative monthly community meeting.

This community meeting will discuss City-wide crime statistics, recent incidents of public interest, neighborhood watch tips, and special public safety related topics. This month, we will be joined by City Code Enforcement.
