The City of College Park is hosting a series of concerts this summer and you are invited! Join us at City Hall Plaza next Friday!

The events will feature a variety of musical genres and performers and will include something for everyone, music, food, beer, and entertainment. There will be children’s performers, activities and arts and crafts available for kids as well.

Don't forget, Saturday May 21 is the final Spring Saturday Cleanup! This is the last opportunity to dispose of items without incurring a collection fee for bulk items. The Department of Public Works facility will be open for residents and off-campus student rentals to drop off bulky trash, white goods, electronics recycling, brush, and yard trim. Beginning on or about April 28, 2022, crews continue utility relocations at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue (US Route 1) and Rossborough Lane for approximately 3 weeks, weather permitting. Temporary lane closures on Baltimore Avenue (US Route 1) may occur between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and weekends, as needed.

Please be advised that the tower crane for the Hub development project at 4210 Knox Road is planned to be erected on Tuesday May 10-11, 2022. The road closure on Knox Road will begin at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 and the road will reopen Wednesday at noon Wednesday, May 11. Local Non-Through traffic will be allowed up to the road closure. Flaggers will be directing traffic and pedestrians during the entire process.

The City of College Park will begin distributing more than 1,000 at-home COVID-19 test kits to City residents in early February. If you are a City resident and would like a FREE COVID-19 At-Home Test Kit, you must fill out the reservation request form here. To schedule a delivery (for an additional fee), call 240-487-3593. Material is available year-round until we sell out. Pick up Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Bring a shovel and containers and be prepared to dig. More information available at www.collegeparkmd.gov/gardens.

The City is gauging interest in a potentially new tree planting program for residents. If you are interested in having a tree planted on your property by a contractor, please complete the interest form on the City website in the trees section or click here. When filling out the form, select Tree Planting on residential property or contact horticulturist@collegeparkmd.gov

If you are interested in having a street tree planted near the curb, reach out to horticulturist@collegeparkmd.gov.

The City has a program that provides for street tree planting in the right-of-way area, which includes the grass strip between the curb and sidewalk. College Park residents interested in requesting a tree can contact the horticulturist at 240-487-3595 or horticulturist@collegeparkmd.gov The location will be inspected to determine if it is suitable.

City of College Park property owners can apply for reimbursement of up to $150.00 annually, for approved tree(s) planted on their residential lot. The adult spray portion of MDAs program is scheduled to start in late May/early June and run through September to trap and control mosquito populations. More information can be found on our website www.collegeparkmd.gov/insects#mosquitoes.

Any resident who wishes to have his/her property frontage excluded from adult mosquito control pesticide applications by truck-mounted ultra-low volume (ULV) sprayers must fill out this exemption form annually and return it to:

If you don't have a printer, the local office for MDA Mosquito Control in College Park has offered to send residents a form via DocuSign. To request the form be sent to you via email, please send an email to skeetermd1.mda@maryland.gov.

Appointments are required - slots are individual, you can only register one animal per spot. Appointments are in 10 minute slots, and space is limited. All animals must be leashed or properly confined to a carrier. No walk-ins. City residents must be able to provide proof of residence to obtain free services.

The City of College Park will hold its annual 2022 Memorial Day observance, Monday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the College Park Veterans Memorial at the intersection of Baltimore Ave. and Greenbelt Rd.

The program will include music, speakers, and wreath laying in fitting tribute to the men and women who have served our country. Please bring pictures of your loved ones, veterans alive or passed to share on our Honors Table.

Parking is available near Bowlero at 9021 Baltimore Ave. This event is sponsored by the City's Veterans Memorial Committee.

The City's Department of Public Works facility will be open for City residents to drop off bulky trash, white goods, electronics recycling, brush, and yard trim. There are no fees for appliances or electronics, and bulk trash dropped off does not count toward your bulk trash amounts. You must be a resident of the City of College Park and bring proof of City residency to participate, although anyone can buy wood mulch during this event.
