The City has once again partnered with the National Research Center (NRC) to conduct a comprehensive community survey. This upcoming City of College Park Community Survey will again measure residents’ attitudes and opinions on City services like refuse and recycling collection, City facilities and parks, City events, and economic development. This will be the second scientifically representative survey conducted in the City of College Park.
A randomly selected sample of College Park residents will receive postcards from the City in October notifying them of their selection in the survey process. Mailed paper surveys will arrive later in the month, with a City cover letter and instructions to complete and return the survey. Responses are anonymous. The mailed paper survey will be in English, but a Spanish version of the survey will be available online for the selected respondents.
Participation in the survey is very important. The results will help City officials better serve the College Park community, so please complete the survey if your household is selected. Help us shape the future of College Park!

With construction of the new City Hall scheduled to begin next year, the current City Hall at 4500 Knox Road is closing.
All Mayor and Council meetings are now held at Davis Hall (9217 51st Avenue).
On Monday, October 7, the Department of Planning, Community & Economic Development and the Parking Enforcement Division of the Department of Public Services will relocate to 8400 Baltimore Avenue Suite 340 (in the same suite as the Department of Public Services). However, parking permit applications and parking ticket payments can be made at the current City Hall until Friday, October 11 at 12:00 p.m.
On Monday, October 14, Administration, Finance and Human Resources will relocate to 8400 Baltimore Avenue Suite 375. The building at 4500 Knox Road will be permanently closed to the public.
Effective October 14, 2019, the new mailing address for City Hall will be 8400 Baltimore Avenue Suite 375, College Park, MD 20740. City phone numbers and office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) will remain the same.

The Department installed a toddler beam for the toddler full bucket seat swing at the Hollywood Playground. The beam was installed to separate the toddler swing from the belt swing; this upgrade increased the number of swings at the park from 2 to 3.
The Department has been assisting with the set-up of College Park Day including with the touch-a-truck area.
Crews have been preparing and performing preventative maintenance on snow removal equipment and leaf collection equipment.
The first fall cleanup Saturday is next week! October 12 & 26, 2019 from 7:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Works (DPW). DPW will be open for City residents to drop-off bulky trash, electronics for recycling, brush, and yard trim. You must show proof of City residency. Once again, we are accepting donations for Community Forklift and GreenDrop; donations should be in good condition. Clean out your homes, garages, and sheds, and bring the items you no longer use or need and donate them for reuse.
FREE Compost Saturdays!
During the clean-up events on October 12 and 26, residents of College Park can pick-up FREE Smartleaf® screened compost from 7:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Works (DPW), 9217 51st Avenue, College Park. Limit 2 cubic yards per resident, per trip. You must bring proof of City of College Park residency to participate. We will load open bed trucks. If you don’t have a truck and want to get some compost, bring your own containers or bags as well as a shovel and be prepared to dig and get dirty.
Tree programs offered by the City
- Tree Planting in the Right-of-Way: If you would like a tree planted in the right-of way in front of your home, please contact Brenda Alexander to discuss options at 240-487-3595 or [email protected].
- Tree Canopy Enhancement Program (TCEP) on Private Property: The City has a program to reimburse the cost (up to $150.00) of approved trees on private property. Click here for more information and application.

Contract officer conducted a requested traffic assignment at 51st Avenue and Blackfoot Road regarding stop sign violations. 2 warnings were issued.

Contract officer conducted a requested traffic assignment at 51st Avenue and Blackfoot Road regarding stop sign violations. 3 citations and 2 warnings were issued.

Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Hollywood Road and 47th Place. 2 warnings were issued.

Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Saint Andrews Place and De Pauw Place. 7 citations and 5 warnings were issued.

Contract Officer responded to a loud party call with the CEO in the 7500 block of Girard Avenue. The student possessed a fraudulent driver’s license as a student referral was submitted. Warning was issued for the noise.

The Department will be open for City residents to drop-off bulky trash, electronics for recycling, brush, and yard trim.
FREE Smartleaf® Compost. City residents may pick up free Smartleaf® screened compost during the two clean-up day events. Limit 2 cubic yards per resident, per trip. You must bring proof of City of College Park residency to participate. We will load open bed trucks. If you don’t have a truck and want to get some compost, bring your own containers or bags as well as a shovel and be prepared to dig and get dirty.
The following will be available for purchase and pick-up: Rain barrels ($72), yard waste carts ($25), and backyard compost bins ($20).
You must be a resident of the City of College Park and bring proof of City residency to participate, although anyone can buy compost or wood mulch during this event.
Residents may dispose of one of each of the following items per year for free: air conditioners, heat pumps, dehumidifiers, and refrigerators. Tires will incur a disposal fee of $4.00 each.
Hazardous materials will not be accepted (light bulbs/tubes, batteries, shingles, paint, etc.)
Two participating organizations Community Forklift and GreenDrop are accepting donations that are still in good condition. Clean out your homes, garages, and sheds, and bring the items you no longer use or need and donate them for reuse. Donations are tax deductible. The following types of materials will be collected separately so they may be reused:
Community Forklift: Items must be in good condition! Building, remodeling, and gardening materials – any surplus or salvaged items from your latest home or garden improvement job, including but not limited to bricks and pavers, tiles and flooring material, cabinets, solid wood doors, gardening supplies, and tools.
