Fall Cleanup Saturdays
The Department of Public Works is open for City residents to drop-off bulky trash, appliances, electronics for recycling, brush, and yard trim on October 6 and 20 from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

Residents can also buy rain barrels, yard waste carts and backyard composting bins. During the two clean-up days, City residents can pick up FREE Smartleaf® compost (up to two cubic yards per resident, must show proof of city residency.) We will accept donations of surplus gently-used, and salvaged home improvement supplies for Community Forklift and gently used articles of clothing, shoes, blankets, collectibles, kitchenware, toys and sporting goods for GreenDrop.

Looking for some yummy food? Check out the Downtown and Hollywood Farmers Markets! Fresh produce, delicious food trucks/stands, plants, local meat and eggs, crafts and so much more happening every week at these two markets. Come on by for local food, music and fun.

Hollywood Farmers Market: 
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Shopping Center (by MOM's)

Downtown Farmers Market: 
Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at City Hall (4500 Knox Road)
CITY DEPARTMENTS
Department of Public Works
Crews have been preparing for the College Park Day Event by sweeping streets, delivering equipment, and planning staffing for the event.

Old Parish House Window Project is 95% complete. A Final walkthrough is scheduled next week.

The Department is proceeding with the award of the HVAC Contract at Youth and Family Services.

Solid Waste Study is on-going and additional meetings will be scheduled next week.

The Department is working on the AVL external link for the public view of snow operations on our website. We will be working to implement the project once GIS mapping questions have been resolved and we are compatible with the mapping criteria.

The Department attended the College Park Walk on Monday October 1, 2018. Several street light outages were reported to Pepco and WMATA.

The landscape crew is weeding the landscaped median in Route 1 at the entrance to Ikea. Nearly 200 replacement perennials have been planted throughout the median to fill in areas where previous plants died.

PowerScreen trommel screener was delivered to screen finished compost, which will continue through October

Tree Canopy Enhancement Program (TCEP) for reimbursement of the cost of an approved tree up to $150.00 annually for tree(s) planted on their residential lot. Click here for more information and application.

September 14 - 20, 2018
9/14 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Parking Enforcement) in the 4200 block of Hartwick Road. 1 parking citation was issued.

9/14 Contract officer assisted the code enforcement officer and DPIE at 4622 Knox Road.

9/14 Contract officer on routine patrol at Yale Road and Hartwick Road observed an individual with an open alcohol container. The student was referred to the Office of Student Conduct

9/15 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Edmonston Road and Knoxville Road. 2 warning citations were issued

9/16 Contract officer responded to a call for service to check on the welfare of a person in the 7400 block of Baltimore Avenue. Officer discovered an intoxicated subject laying on the roadway in front of Milkboy Art House. Fire/EMS responded, and the subject refused assistance. SOW.

9/18 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Edgewood Road and 51st Avenue. 1 citation and 4 warning citations were issued

9/21 Contract officer investigating a motor vehicle accident (pedestrian related) at Knox Road and Baltimore Avemue ended up making 2 arrests for disorderly conduct and possession of a “fake” license. Both subjects were transported to DOC for processing.

9/22 Contract officers issued 4 student referrals throughout the day in the 4300 block of Hartwick Road for loud parties.

9/22 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Edgewood Road and 51st Avenue. 3 citations and 3 warning citations were issued

9/22 Contract officer responded to the 4700 block of Cherry Hill Road for a theft report. Officer obtained a warrant for theft and trespass.

9/25 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Edgewood Road and 51st Avenue. 6 citations and 1 warning citation were issued

9/26 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Pedestrian Enforcement) at Baltimore Avenue and Berwyn House Road. 12 warning citations were issued to pedestrians not using the marked crosswalk.
