City Hall is Moving!
With construction of the new City Hall scheduled to begin next year, the current City Hall at 4500 Knox Road is closing.

All Mayor and Council meetings are now held at Davis Hall (9217 51st Avenue).

On Monday, October 7, the Department of Planning, Community & Economic Development and the Parking Enforcement Division of the Department of Public Services will relocate to 8400 Baltimore Avenue Suite 340 (in the same suite as the Department of Public Services). However, parking permit applications and parking ticket payments can be made at the current City Hall until Friday, October 11 at 12:00 p.m.

On Monday, October 14, Administration, Finance and Human Resources will relocate to 8400 Baltimore Avenue Suite 375. The building at 4500 Knox Road will be permanently closed to the public. 

Effective October 14, 2019, the new mailing address for City Hall will be 8400 Baltimore Avenue Suite 375, College Park, MD 20740. City phone numbers and office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) will remain the same.

A WEEK IN REVIEW
Department of Public Works
We received the required County permit to install a new City Department of Public Works sign at 9217 51st Avenue.

Fleet maintenance staff are performing preventive maintenance work on all leaf machines and snow equipment to prepare for upcoming seasonal activities

If you would like to start diverting your food scraps, we have 5-gallon food scrap buckets available at the Department during regular business hours. The buckets are useful to transport collected food scraps to the drop off location.

We continue to receive calls about trees maintenance on private property. Please note that the property owner is responsible for any tree issues on their property.

Weekly Highlights of Contract Police Activity
September 6 - 12, 2019
9/7 Contract officer responded to the 4600 block of College Avenue regarding a noise/party complaint. Officer observed 100 persons attending the party. A student referral was submitted.

9/7 Contract officer responded to the 4700 block of Norwich Road regarding a noise/party complaint. Officer observed 60 to 70 persons at the party. A student referral was submitted.

9/7 Contract officer stopped a student for possession on an open alcoholic beverage at College Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue. A student referral was submitted.

9/7 Contract officer noticed a loud party at in the 4600 block of Knox Road. The party was “shut down” and a student referral was submitted. The party (tent) had about 100 persons in attendance.

9/7 Contract officer conducted a traffic stop at Baltimore Avenue and Guilford Road. The driver was arrested for possession of 129 grams of marijuana.

9/8 Contract officer responded to a call for service for a male armed with a handgun in the 7300 block of Baltimore Avenue. The suspect made a threatening gesture by placing his hand on the gun after someone accidentally spilled a drink on them. The suspect was arrested and transported to DOC for processing.

9/9 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Speed Enforcement) in the 9000 block of Baltimore Avenue. 10 citations were issued as the officer was operating the portable “Mobile Camera.”
