Community Meeting: City Hall

This meeting will explore what the new City Hall could be - including its design, uses, functions and activities. For over 20 years the City has discussed a need for a new City Hall. In 2014, City Council selected and approved the 4500 Knox Road site for the new City Hall.

• Discuss what the new City Hall could look like and its potential uses and functions for the future
• Participate in a visioning exercise
• Opportunity for feedback

Save the Date: October Clean-Up Saturdays are October 6th and 20th from 7:30 am – 12:00 pm. During the clean-up days city residents can drop-off bulky trash, appliances, electronics for recycling, brush, and yard trim. During the two clean-up days, City residents can pick up FREE Smartleaf® compost (up to two cubic yards per resident, must show proof of city residency.) We will accept donations of surplus gently-used, and salvaged home improvement supplies for Community Forklift and gently used articles of clothing, shoes, blankets, collectibles, kitchenware, toys and sporting goods for GreenDrop.

Playground Specialists completed planned maintenance work at Calvert Hills and Muskogee playgrounds. Deteriorating wooden timbers surrounding the play areas were removed and replaced; 88 linear feet of new timbers were installed at Calvert Hills and 105 linear feet at Muskogee playgrounds.

Three bids were received for contract tree work, they will be evaluated and a contractor will be selected by the end of the month.

Mosquito control program ends next week. Continue to tip any containers that collect water.

Conducted field observations on Thursday, Sept. 20 related to the solid waste bulk trash study.

Received 6 bids for the HVAC project at Youth and Family Services facility. They are being evaluated and we expect to select a contractor in the coming weeks.

Old Parish House project is 95% complete. Gutters and downspouts will be replaced next week to meet our specifications.

Did You Know?
SMARTLEAF® compost and wood mulch are available!

Delivery is available Monday-Friday for an additional fee. Compost is $28.00 per cubic yard and wood mulch is $12.00 per cubic yard. Material may be picked up at Public Works, during business hours.

Backyard Composting Bins are available to purchase from the Department for $20.00 (City residents) and $40.00 (non-residents).
Weekly Highlights of Contract Police Activity
September 7 - 13, 2018
9/7 Contract officer on foot patrol in the 4600 block of Knox Road observed an individual with an open alcohol container. The student was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

9/10 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Speed Enforcement) in the 9000 block of Baltimore Ave  (24 citations were issued as the officer was operating the portable speed camera.

9/11 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Stop Sign Enforcement) at Hollywood Road and Rhode Island Ave 4 citations and 10 warning citations were issued

9/12 Contract officer impounded 2 vehicles (not registered/illegally parked/abandoned) in the 9100 block of 48th Place.

9/12 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Pedestrian Enforcement) at Baltimore Ave and Knox Road. 8 warning citations were issued to pedestrians not using the marked crosswalk.

9/13 Contract officer conducted a traffic assignment (Parking Enforcement) along the 4200 block of Hartwick Road after receiving a complaint . (11 parking citations were issued.)
