Updated COVID-19 Boosters Encouraged | |
County Health urges everyone 5 years and older to get the updated booster shot at least 2 months from their original COVID-19 vaccine or booster dose. Bivalent boosters, which are effective against both the original strain of the virus and the Omicron variants, are available from primary health care providers, such as Kaiser and Sutter, and pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS. County Health’s community clinics offer boosters and primary series (first and second doses). Appointments are available on MyTurn, though aren’t required.
| |
Flu Shots Now Available
Flu shots are available to everyone over the age of 6 months at primary health care providers, retail pharmacies, or at County Health community flu clinics. Appointments are available at MyTurn. It takes a couple of weeks after the vaccination for the body to build immunity, so it’s best not to delay getting a shot. The symptoms for flu and COVID are similar, so being up to date with both vaccines (including the new COVID booster) can prevent serious illness this fall and winter.
