Dear Families,
Walk-A-Thon – What a Great Success!
We had a fun Spirit Week with Crazy Hat Day, Sports Theme Day, and Colors Day. What a beautiful day we had on Friday during our Walk-A-Thon. I would like to thank Jim Britt and Cari O’Loughlin-Britt and their wonderful volunteers for making the Walk-A-Thon a success. Also, a special thanks to Elaina Morris and Famous Dave’s BBQ for providing Pulled Pork Sandwiches and cornbread and chips for lunch. As of today, we have raised $56,574 and we will have additional matching funds that will increase our number. Stay tuned for a final tally! Prizes and Class winners will be announced soon.
For families who have not contributed to the Walk-A-Thon this is a reminder that this is one of our four required fundraisers, so if you didn’t already give ($95 for one student or $190 for families with 2 or more students) you can complete your commitment using this link.

Grandparents’ Mass Tomorrow
Our annual Grandparents' Mass is tomorrow, May 19, at 9:00AM. If Pre-K-8 students have grandparents who can visit them at school that day (or if not, other relatives/special friends may substitute), they should meet their grandkids outside their classrooms at 8:45 AM so they may walk to church together and sit with them at Mass.
Immediately following Mass, a reception will follow in the main school lobby until 10:30 AM, at which time the students need to get back to work and will have to say goodbye to their special visitors.
Please note that parking is congested for this event, so please arrive early and you may need to park on the soccer field, basketball court, or find neighborhood parking.
New Family Orientation – Mentor Families Needed.
Monday evening, we welcomed 30 families who will begin their St. Louise journey in the fall. We are looking for families who would be willing to mentor a new family for the upcoming school year. We will pair you with a family in your child’s grade level and would ask you to reach out as soon as possible and welcome them to St. Louise. We would also like you to schedule a playdate or get together with some other classmates over the summer. Throughout the school year, we would ask you to reach out periodically and see if they have questions and remind them of upcoming events. If you are interested and willing, please let Tracy and Mindy know, office@stlouiseschool.org
Parent Survey for Accreditation – Final Call (Due Tomorrow)
We are in our first year of the Accreditation Process. Every 6 years, Catholic Schools go through a process of Accreditation intended to help schools develop their strengths, ensure effective governance, and provide the best educational experiences for their students. The primary objective of accreditation is ongoing school improvement. Through this process, the teachers, faculty, and staff have been working hard in collecting data, evidence, and information of our school which will be put into a self-study document. Today, we ask that parents fill out the following survey that will let us know about your perceptions of our school programming. Your answers will remain anonymous and please fill out the survey by TOMORROW, Friday, May 19th, 2023. Thank you for your time and feedback.

Dear Friends at St. Louise,
Last Sunday we heard these words from the Second Reading at Mass: Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who ask you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness . . . . (1 Peter 3:15). Are you always ready to speak to others about your faith when they ask? I sometimes find it a challenge to do so myself; and yet that is how we are called to live by the gift and call of our baptism. Everyone has a part to play in helping others to know of the love of Christ.
How can we better prepare ourselves, so that when someone asks, we can be ready to give the reason for our hope? Lord knows, everyone could use more hope!
The first reason for our hope is Jesus himself, and that he promises us that we are truly one with him, as he is one with the Father, and that, through him, we too are one with the Father.
What does this mean? It means the fullness of being one with Christ is that we, who are many members, form one body, the Church; and we can only live the fullness of the life that Christ wants for us, if we, as the body , the Church, are one with him, who is the head of the body. Here are some incredible words from Blessed Isaac of Stella, abbot: “[T]hose who by faith are spiritual members of Christ can truly say that they are what he is: the Son of God and God himself. But what Christ is by his nature we are as his partners; what he is of himself in all fullness, we are as participants.”
As a practical matter, when someone says, “I am spiritual, not religious,” or “I like Jesus, but not the Church,” we might well respond with, “Yeah, I hear you.” For a good number of people, there is a lot not to like about religion or the Church.
I invite you to consider that in the scriptures we encounter the fullness of Christ, all that Jesus offers us. The fullness of Christ isn’t one or the other – it is both /and. Christ in his fullness is in both spirituality and religion, Christ the head and Christ the body. We experience Christ as head of the Church in his perfection and purity; and we also see Christ fully present with the body of Christ, the people of God, the Church, in all its greatness and messy imperfections and division, the Church that is constantly in need of conversion, of God’s forgiveness and healing.
Christ wants us to be his partners, to share in his nature fully. The fullness of Christ is found in him who ascended to the heavens and in him who still lives among us in this imperfect world.
Happy Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord!
