Weekly Bulletin - April 6, 2023 |
Dear Families,
Easter Triduum at St. Louise
Today, Friday, and Saturday represent the Sacred Triduum in the Catholic Church's calendar, and at St. Louise School we begin today with our Holy Thursday Prayer Service at 9AM. This will be in the church and attended by all grades. All parents and families are invited. 3B will be leading the Prayer Service.
The next day is Good Friday, and we will continue the St. Louise tradition of having our 8th graders lead all classes in walking the Stations of the Cross outdoors. Each homeroom has a specific time they will walk the Stations on April 7, beginning outside the front entrance of the school. If any parents/grandparents wish to join their children, your children's teachers will let you know at what time you should be waiting outside (near the flagpole. No need to come inside for a nametag.) Please make sure your children have coats for the day since we will walk the stations regardless of the weather.
Below are the times for each classroom:

(Please remember - we dismiss school at 12:00 on Friday, April 7, and begin Easter Vacation.)
At St. Louise Parish, there are a variety of opportunities to come to church for prayer and liturgies during Holy Week. Look here for information, as well as to find Mass times for
Easter.
Faculty and Staff Updates
I would like to announce another update to the school community on a change to our school staff for next year. Our 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Dahl will be leaving at the end of the school year - please see this message from her:
Dear St. Louise community,
It has been a great year for me at St. Louise! Unfortunately, I will not be returning to teach here next year, as I will be moving to Minnesota to be closer to family. Thank you, students, parents, and staff, for making me feel welcome and for all your support in the 3A classroom this year.
-Mrs. Dahl
We will miss Mrs. Dahl and we thank her for all she has done this year. I have posted openings for First and Third Grade positions with the Diocese already, so if you know anyone interested in teaching that would be interested in working at St. Louise, please refer them to HERE.
This Spring and continuing next year, former 6th grade teacher and alumni parent, Mrs. Paula Patterson will be an intern at St. Louise School. She is in training to be an Administrator in an Education setting. She will be on campus a couple days a week until the end of the year. Please welcome Paula to St. Louise!
What has Mr. Fitz been doing?
Most of you remember Dan Fitzpatrick, our longtime principal who began at St. Louise in 1988 and left in 2021. Not only was I the one who succeeded him as principal a year and a half ago, but many years ago he was my principal when I was a student myself at St. Louise.
“Mr. Fitz” - as he was usually called - was known for his weekly letters to parents in which he frequently addressed parenting issues with the backdrop of discussing the intersection of secular society and Catholic theology/morality. When he left St. Louise, many school parents were hoping he would continue writing so they could follow his insightful and educational perspective.
I’m happy to say Dan has begun a website where he has restarted his parenting blog. If you go to https://aPrincipalsPrinciples.com/ you can read his regular postings for Catholic parents nationwide. Mr. Fitz will be writing about everything from how to get your children to go to Mass to the perfect age when kids should be allowed cell phones.
In today’s world, most parents can never receive enough parenting tips, especially from a faithful Catholic perspective of a 34-year Catholic school principal. So I hope you check out Dan’s site - A Principal’s Principles for Parenting: A Catholic School Principal Counsels Parents to Help Them See Their Kids in Today's Turbulent Culture.
Continued Prayers
Please continue to pray for Dr. Liz Cruickshank as she continues with her treatments. Also please pray for our Instructional Assistant and Recess Supervisor, Ann Marie Sweeney as she recovers from knee surgery. During her absence, we have many instructional assistant substitutes that will rotate throughout the week to help in the classrooms and on the playground.
Have a Blessed Easter Break,
Mr. Mike Fuerte
Principal

A Message from Father Gary | |
Dear Friends at St. Louise,
Today we celebrate the most important day of the Church year, Easter Sunday. Just like any important event in a family when all the family members come together, so too does the whole family of the Church gather to celebrate the central experience of the first followers of Jesus: that he is truly risen from the dead, just as he had promised. We are Easter people, and Alleluia is our song, as St. Augustine says. No matter who you are or where you are from, we are glad that you are here!
The Easter “song” is something that we certainly live as we gather for Mass, which is the summit and source of all Christian activity. In the Mass we encounter the risen Lord, most especially in the Eucharist, in his Body and Blood. Then we are sent to live it, at home and in our daily lives.
When we make the commitment to give our lives to the Lord who gave his life for our sake, we choose to make him the center of our lives. As central as the Sunday celebration is for us to develop as mature disciples, so too is how we live the faith at home as the “domestic church.” Certainly, this includes praying together as a family. It also means giving priority to spending time together as a family and to forming close relationships – to show affection, to affirm each, to forgive each, and to give attention to each other’s needs. For people who live alone, prayer and meditation can become an even more prominent way to live the faith at home; and any time you welcome someone into your home, or reach out to someone, you too are living what it means to be the “domestic church.” The practice of care and affection with the love of God at home then teaches each of us how to be generous and kind to friends and strangers alike as we live our lives outside our homes, going to school and work and doing all our daily business in the world.
There is an online ministry platform to help you live as the domestic church called CatholicHôM (Households on Mission) created by the Peyton Institute for Domestic Church Life. I invite you to download the app (at www.catholichom.com) and give it a try for the Easter Season.
And here is a suggested prayer for your Easter meal:
On this Easter Day, we celebrate the empty tomb and Jesus’ resurrection, but think also of our brothers and sisters in need, who may not eat today – especially for the people in our sister parish and school, Ste. Anne in Haiti. We lift them up as we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
A Blessed Easter to everyone!
Fr. Gary Zender
Pastor
