Muslim-Christian Dialogue Explores Translating Prophetic Concepts into Concrete Action

On Tuesday, March 6, IOICA Director Colin Christopher joined Dr. Kyle Tau, Ecumenical Staff Officer for Faith & Order and Theological Development at the United Methodist Church, for a enriching discussion on prophetic stories and traditional scriptures in Islam and Christianity that highlight peace and justice. They were joined by seminary students from across the country, and the group exchanged ideas about a variety of topics--how to authentically translate religious concepts within a policy setting, grappling with difficult scriptures, and the dangers of contemporary political and economic thought co-opting the foundational values of equity and justice that are central to both Islam and Christianity. The gathering was part of an ongoing interfaith series within the United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill, and an introduction to the new Scriptural Reasoning project that IOICA will participate in during the spring of 2018.
