There is nothing like a heaping bunch of freshly-picked kale. To keep the freshness, I re-use one of the plastic produce bags from my CSA box, and keep the kale stored in that bag in the crisper of my fridge. Kale has a pretty long shelf-life if stored correctly, but I generally prioritize using it sooner than later. If you'd like to use them for a salad, I recommend de-stemming the kale and giving the leaves a little massage to make the texture more palatable. If you cooked kale, they are an excellent addition to a bean soup, or simply sautéed with olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and a dash of vinegar. If you have kids at home, kale chips are a tried and true classic!
