TAKE ACTION RE: PROPOSED IRS REGS ON CONTRIBUTIONS IN EXCHANGE FOR SALT CREDITS
DRAFT IRS REGULATIONS would thwart NYS legislation allowing individuals to get a deduction for charitable contributions to school districts and municipalities. At a recent regional meeting, tax law experts opined that the proposed IRS regs provide insufficient clarity on several issues and they challenged the current IRS interpretation of federal tax law as arbitrary, capricious, and therefore invalid. The IRS public comment period closes on 10/11, so consider submitting a board resolution ASAP - check out the background info and resolution template for a deeper dive .
