Family Literacy Week - January 22 - 29, 2023

Saanich Peninsula Literacy is inviting local businesses to participate in our Family Literacy Week event, The Great Estimation Challenge! A fun and engaging way to bring new customers into your place of business, while building awareness of the value of lifelong learning and literacy. Simply display a clear container filled with multiple objects (ie: jellybeans) at your place of business during Family Literacy Week, January 22 - 29, 2023.

Throughout Family Literacy Week, families are invited to visit participating businesses to register their best estimate of the number of objects in the container you display. They will fill out an entry form, drop their guess into an entry box and hope to hear at the end of the week that they had the winning guess.

To include your business in this fun event, fill out the simple form HERE.

B.C.'s economy forecast to remain steady, despite slower near-term economic growth

Like other jurisdictions, B.C. is expected to see slower economic growth through 2023 because of global inflation and higher interest rates, before steady growth resumes in the medium term, according to projections from private-sector forecasters. Each year, B.C.'s finance minister meets with the Economic Forecast Council (EFC), a 13-member council of private-sector forecasters from throughout Canada, in preparation for the next year's budget.
