~Chamber News and Notes~
Letter From the Director
As my time at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce comes to a close, I would like to thank all of our members for your unwavering support of our mission to provide the very best for our great community.

It has been a great honor to serve as your Director, to see the economic growth of our area, and to represent all of you across our State.

I want to wish Tracy Salter all the best in her new role as GACOC Director and I am confident that she will continue to keep the Camellia City moving forward.

-Francine Wasden

The Butler County Historical & Genealogical Society's
   Quarterly meeting
Sunday, April 29th ~ Shiloh Baptist Church
Early pioneer history will be featured in The Butler County Historical Society's  April 29th  program. We meet  at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29 , at Shiloh Baptist Church in northwest Butler County for the story of Gary’s Stockade (our county’s first fort) and the Ogly-Stroud Massacre (our county’s first – and very tragic – conflict between Native Americans and pioneer settlers). We’ll also be dedicating a new historical marker to these topics, as part of our Alabama Bicentennial activities. This is a very special event – don’t miss it!
We especially invite descendants of the "massacre survivors" to join us at this meeting. Do your ancestors include MARY RAY OGLY and ARCHELAUS DICKERSON of Manningham? Contact Annie Crenshaw for further details:  334-382-6959 , email:  anniecrenshaw@centurytel.net
Directions: Shiloh Baptist Church is at the intersection of Sherling Lake Rd./Co. Rd.  44 and the Ridge Road /Co. Rd. 54. The historic marker dedication will be held  at 1:45 p.m.  at Old Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Sherling Lake Road, just a few hundred feet north of the Co. Rd. 44/Co. Rd. 54 intersection and new Shiloh Church.
