First Baptist Family,
What a wonderful Pentecost Sunday it was to kick off this week! I'm grateful for our friend Xiomara Reboyras-Ortiz preaching and the many of you who jumped in to help make it an especially meaningful Pentecost celebration while I was out of town. I had a good time away, but I certainly enjoyed the service and was proud of our church family watching later online.
I'm excited to be back in-person with you this Sunday for Trinity Sunday, the spot on the Christian calendar when we consider how God reveals God's single essence in three persons.
I know for many of us summer changes much about our ordinary rhythms. In some ways the same is true for First Baptist. While we still gather for worship each Sunday, let me encourage you to seize the opportunities this summer change of pace offers to engage in community and service.
The first of our Summer Suppers is just over a week away on June 22. This is an opportunity to share an informal meal alongside some other folks in the First Baptist Family. You can sign up to host or attend for the June 22 or July 20 Summer Suppers here. There's also a Church Family Beach Fellowship the evening of June 29 at Fort DeSoto - I hope you'll make plans to join us for that, too!
In addition to these opportunities to fellowship with your church family, don't miss out on a couple of chances to serve. One opportunity is spending next Saturday morning, June 21, at the church working on some small facilities projects. You can sign up here. And/or you may want to travel to Immokalee to take part in food and diaper distribution alongside our Cultivate Abundance mission partners on August 1. You can sign up for that here.
Wherever the summer takes you, I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday or whenever your summer adventures bring you back to St. Pete!
Blessings,
Ben
