This week's news at a glance

This Sunday we gather in Ordinary Time for the Sacrament of Holy Communion as Pastor Tim opens Matthew 11 with "The End of Alone." Coffee and Donuts on the Porch begins at 9:30, and the choir and Pastor's Bookshelf both meet Wednesday evening.

Paul names a war every honest person knows — the distance between wanting to be good and actually being good. He couldn't live his way out of it alone, and neither can we. This Sunday, Jesus answers that struggle not with a program but with an invitation: Come to me. And the invitation doesn't end at rest — it ends at the yoke, where the load is shared and the pulling alone is finally over.

Grace is not opposed to effort. It is opposed to earning. I can't wait to open this with you Sunday.
