STONEY NAKODA HISTORIC CONNECTIONS

A week ago, Ralph Connor's Living into Right Relations group were honoured to attend the unveiling ceremony of the Stoney Nakoda story sign at Tinda Mimun (Indian Flats).

This series of eight signs, stretching from Bear Hill to Yamnuska to Canmore, tell the stories of the Indigenous People's relationship with the land.  This sign, at the Travel Info Centre in Canmore, tells of the Stoney Nakoda historic connections to Cochrane and Canmore.

Usually, Indigenous Day of Prayer https://www.united-church.ca/worship-special-days/indigenous-day-prayer is marked on the Sunday prior to June 21, but this year we marked it on June 3, in continuity with the unveiling of these signs.

WEEKLY BULLETIN AT SUNDAY WORSHIP

A month ago, we experimented with a half-sheet bulletin format on a 3 week trial basis.  Based on an overall very positive response, Worship Committee has agreed to move in this half-sheet bulletin direction.

On Communion Sundays we will have a full bulletin, but in between will have a simpler format.  For detailed announcements, your best source is always the Thursday newsletter...sign up at www.ralphconnor.ca most of which are also highlighted on the TV Announcement loop prior to Sunday Worship.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS community
CANMORE COMMUNITY FOOD & FRIENDS - CALL FOR HELP

"Would you like to meet and welcome more people in our community? Do you enjoy being with people of different ages and backgrounds?

Every Monday (including statutory holidays) around 200 to 250 people enjoy friendship and a fabulous free meal at the community hall of St. Michael's Anglican Church. Donations are always appreciated. Several organizations organize their members to help with this endeavour including Rotary, Lion's Club, and several churches.

At least once a month, 12 volunteers are required from Ralph Connor United Church to set up, serve, wash dishes and clear and clean up. Hard working volunteers have been coming out to help with this amazing endeavour from 4pm to 7:30 or 8pm but are finding that this is a lengthly period of time so we are trying to do two shifts; the first shift is from 4 to 6 and the second shift is from 6 to closing. 6 people are required for each shift.

Please sign up on the clipboard that gets passed around on Sunday with your name and email if you are interested in volunteering. You will not be required every month. We will send out requests for volunteers a week to two weeks prior to the meal which we are hosting. You will be requested to provide a commercial dessert or fruit when you come to do your shift and of course chow down on an excellent meal before or after your shift.

We are looking forward to meeting you. Thanks for considering this."
