ACYOA Alumni Survey

St. John Community Study Report Results Now Available

The results of the St. John Armenian Apostolic Church Community Study Report, which was undertaken by Dr. Vahe Sahakyan and Arus Khcheyan Movsesyan of the Armenian Research Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, are now available. We encourage our community members to read and discuss their findings, which are the result of written surveys and in-person information-gathering sessions in 2023-24. We anticipate convening a special parish town hall meeting on this important report in the near future.

An Appeal for Our Armenian American Veterans' Building

St. John Basketball and the Armenian American Veterans' Building Shine at Sports Weekend

Last Sunday, May 25th, the final round competitions for the 2025 ACYOA Sports Weekend tournaments showcased the recent improvements to our Armenian American Veterans' Building gymnasium.

Our Detroit women's basketball team won the tournament championship over Greater Chicago, while the St. John men's basketball team came up just short to Greater Chicago in their championship game. Congratulations to all of our sports competitors throughout the weekend!

We salute steering committee members Armen Arslanian, Mara Najarian, Talia Oknayan, and Celene Philip, and their advisors, Lisa Mardigian and Paul Andonian, for organizing such a successful ACYOA General Assembly and Sports Weekend!

Since 1963, the Armenian American Veterans' Building has housed the many needs and interests of our community, from bridge classes to basketball games, Senior Lunch to ACYOA meetings, and even as a temporary sanctuary during our recent church renovations. Today, this community gem that has given us so much needs our help.

St. John needs you to join the crowd and support the Armenian American Veterans' Building renovation project, giving for the future to honor our past.
