From Father Justin: Prayers for Hurricane Dorian
Thank you so much for your concerns about my Georgia family, I really appreciate it. They are all safe, watching the weather closely, and have a plan should they need to evacuate their homes. Please pray with
me for our brothers and sisters in the Bahamas and elsewhere that Hurricane Dorian makes landfall:

O God, our times are in your hand. In the midst of uncertainty lead us by your never-failing grace as we seek to be agents of healing and hope. Walk with us through difficult times; watch over us in danger; and give to us a spirit of love and compassion for those who suffer and mourn. Remind us that you have promised never to leave us so that even in the valley of the shadow of death your love may be felt, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Draw near to us in this time of sorrow and anguish, comfort those who mourn, strengthen those who are weary, encourage those in despair, and lead us all to fullness of life; through the same Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen

Prison Ministry News
St. Luke’s on the Lake has supported Prison Ministries since 2012 through Kairos and Jubilee Weekends in our area. These Prison Ministry Weekends are similar to Cursillo, and the next one will be at Travis State Jail on October 25 -27 . Brian Hall and Craig Severson will be representing St. Luke’s on the team at this Jubilee. Recently Brian Hall received a moving letter from one of the men he met and prayed with during one of these previous weekends. Click here to read the letter.

For those who cannot serve on a team inside the prison, support can be offered in several ways:
  • “Prayer Chain” slips of paper will be available soon to send as a very touching and visible sign of prayers being offered for these men. These prayer slips from all over the world will be formed into a giant paper chain that wraps completely around the meeting room!
  • Place mats drawn by our children will be sent for all the meals. It is touching to see the inmates look down and see a scribbled picture signed by a young child for them causing tears to flow from these hardened men. Many times I’ve seen the place mats signed, for example by Amy age 6 ,and the inmate says he has a daughter named Amy who’s 6 years old. It’s obviously a God thing.
  • Financial support to help defray the cost of the weekend is also needed. If you feel called, please make your check payable to St. Luke’s with Prison Ministry on the memo line. $300.00 is the total amount to sponsor one participant, but any amount helps.

If you would like to lean more about Prison Ministry, please contact Craig Severson here .
