Club meeting 11-10-2020

Our club is responding to covid health concerns by following guidelines to be safe and prepared. President Cathy Smith called the zoom board meeting to order. Here are some highlights; we received new member application and welcome Julie Draulans. She is the faculty advisor for the Key Club we sponsor, thank you to Todd's daughter for hosting pampered chef and helping our club raise some funds, BUG race committee has been meeting weekly and it's time to start soliciting for sponsors, holiday party for our club will not be held in order to keep safe, Linda Petrik has volunteered to take on the role as membership committee chair. Stay tuned for other upcoming service projects. One of them we will be assembling goodie bags for the children we would normally serve for Breakfast with Santa. We need two more volunteers for bell ringing on Dec 3rd. Let Kim or Cathy know if you can come at 10am or 4pm. Dining Books Fundraiser: We picked up a couple new restaurant's. Deadline is Dec 15th for a restaurant to participate. See Todd.

Links for meetings will be sent out weekly. If you don't want to participate on Zoom you can just call in and be part of it. Speakers and other activities will be incorporated into upcoming meetings. You can use your computer, tablet, or mobile device. Steve Hess has volunteered to help talk you through it, just give him a ring.

We are collecting canned food for Aktion Club. Deadline Nov 20th. Get with Karen or drop off at LARC main lobby M-F before 4pm, 2570 Hanson St, Fort Myers, 33901.

Good News

Congrats to Liz & Stewart Ross on the birth of their first grandchild. Welcome baby "Esme" to our Kiwanis family. Key Club made Thanksgiving cards that will go in the bags of food they collected for the Heights Center.

Upcoming Events The Salvation Army-Bell Ringing Dec 3rd Annual 5K BUG Run - January 23, 2021  Kiwanis International Convention - 2021 June 23-26, Salt Lake City Florida Kiwanis District Convention - 2021 August 5-8  Where/when we meet once traditional meetings resume: 11:30am on Tuesdays at Shoeless Joe's in the Crowne Plaza, 13051 Bell Tower Drive, Fort Myers 33907  * we are monitoring the situation to meet in person however, we first must keep safety in mind for all members  Our club charter date: July 23, 1980 (our 40th anniversary celebration will be at a later date when it's safe to do so).

Just some of the programs we sponsor SLP's (Service Leadership Programs) Aktion Club-(Karen Hurst) at LARC. They meet 2nd Tuesday at 8:30am, year-round and currently virtual.  CKI Club- at FGCU, working on getting roster together and dues paid to activate.(Stewart Ross).  Key Club-Collegiate High on FSW campus. (Erin McNulty and Linda Petrik). Virtual on Monday's at 5pm. Builder's Club- Cypress Lake Middle, on hold. (Barbara Hartman). K-Kids- Littleton Elementary. (Kim Berghs) They will be starting up with a hybrid version in November. BUG: (Bring up Grades) at Littleton, Orangewood, and Rayma Page, Elementary Schools. On hold. Atlas Project: Heights, Rayma Page, Littleton, Orangewood, Elementary Schools (Fort Myers Club is the Division lead) MS Support Group- (Bill Grant), meets 3rd Thursday of each month at St. Hilary Episcopal Church. Suspended.
