Proposed Amendment to Constitution & Bylaws
At our annual meeting last June, the congregation approved changes to our Constitution and Bylaws. As a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, we submitted those revisions to the Southeastern District for review.
During that process, the District’s constitutional review task force recommended adding language to remind our congregation to submit future amendments to the District for review. After discussion, the District approved our Constitution and Bylaws, contingent on including this agreed-upon language.
To move forward, congregational approval of this addition is required. Voting will take place by ballot during worship services on April 26. Eligible voters who cannot attend and wish to vote should contact the church office in advance to obtain a ballot.
Proposed Action:
Approval of amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws to add the following:
Constitution – Article XII (Amendments):
“As a condition of continued membership in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, revisions to the Constitution shall be submitted to the President of the district of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod to which the Congregation is assigned for review and approval to determine whether the revisions are in harmony with the Holy Scriptures, the Confessions, and the teachings and practices of the Synod.”
Bylaws – Article VI (Amendments):
“As a condition of continued membership in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, revisions to the Bylaws shall be submitted to the President of the district of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod to which the Congregation is assigned for review and approval to determine whether the revisions are in harmony with the Holy Scriptures, the Confessions, and the teachings and practices of the Synod.”
If you would like to see and review the full constitution and bylaws, copies will be available in the church office.

| | Join us on Saturdays in April and May as we take a look at Climate Change with the first session displaying faith-based reasoning for why we should care about it and how to be better stewards to the earth. Learning about climate change matters because it effects every aspect of our lives from the quality of air, the weather we experience, and even health insurance prices. Understanding it helps us make informed choices, support effective policies, and prepare for the changes already happening. | | | | |
All students in Grades 1-6 are invited to join us for an evening of fellowship, games, and fun! Our April Kingdom Club will meet on Saturday, April 18th, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Youth Room. We will have pizza and many fun games and activities. Please register your child by April 15th if they plan to attend!

Swim for Bethany House Fundraiser
June 6 at 9:00am
| | |
Hi, I’m Jerry Nepodal, a Lorton/Spring Hill resident and Springfield Prince of Peace church member. For the past 6 years, many of you have supported me with pledges to my solo swim-a-thon to raise money for the Bethany House of Northern Virginia. In 2024, you helped me raise $12,000. Thank you again.
This year, I’ve recruited two additional fellow Spring Hill residents in hopes of raising our total to $20,000+. Here’s the team for this year, left to right: Jim Clark (age 74), Jerry Nepodal (age 72), and Mike Robey (age 68). These athletes, just peaking at their prime, have courageously volunteered to give their best efforts by swimming continuously, non-stop, as long as they can. Cumulatively, our goal is 12 hours.
We’re asking you to please pledge either a specific amount or an amount per continuous minute that we swim. For example, you may wish to pledge exactly $100 regardless of the total duration of our 3 swims. Or, you may want to pledge money per each minute we swim. If we swim 12 total hours (12 × 60 = 720 minutes) and you pledge $.20 per minute, you would donate $144.
To encourage your pledging, we have secured an $8,000 matching pledge such that when we reach the $8,000 pledge level, that will double to $16,000. Remember, our goal is $20,000+, so please help us go as high as possible.
Please visit our pledge page at:

Bethany House has been serving our neighbors by providing short-term housing to women and children escaping domestic violence. Every dollar we raise will go directly to current housing construction and furnishing projects.
Thank you in advance for considering a pledge. Please let me know if you have any questions by emailing me at toserve@verizon.net.

There are many ways you can be part of this ministry. Bring nonperishable food items and place them in the ECHO bin in the back hall. You can also help by filling one of the much-needed volunteer slots at ECHO.
