Seeking Musicians

and Music-Minded Members

Do you sing or play an instrument? Or maybe you just have a heart for music! Allison Schweitzer, our Director of Worship Arts, is looking for folks in our congregation who are interested in getting involved with our music ministry—whether that’s joining a current ensemble, helping rebuild some that haven’t met in a while, or offering your talents for a vocal or instrumental solo.

Summer is a great time to connect! Allison holds casual office hours on Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the choir room. Or feel free to email her at allison.schweitzer@poplc.org to set up a time to chat.

Women's Ministry Action Team

Ladies, are you looking for a meaningful way to contribute without a huge time commitment? Consider joining our Women’s Ministry Action Team! This is a low-key group focused on planning, prayer, and community for the women of POP.

Our next meeting is on Monday, August 4th at 7 p.m. over Zoom. To join us, just email Sara.Wilson@poplc.org for the Zoom link. We’d love to have you!

Whether you're a recent visitor or have been attending for a while, we extend a warm invitation to join us for the Meet Prince of Peace event Sunday, August 17, at 9:15am. (Room TBD) Pastor Michael Hayes will provide an informative presentation, offering insights into our church family and its history. Please join us if you can!  Email Tiffany.Sears@poplc.org.

POPLC Men's Ministry

On June 11th and July 8th, men from Prince of Peace (PoPLC) met for meetings as the Men’s Ministry Action Team (MAT) to explore the vision, purpose, and functions of this newly formed group. The aim of these meetings was to brainstorm strategies for engaging and uniting men for service, fellowship, and outreach.

Establishing this MAT provides a structured advisory and decision-making body that represents all men at PoPLC, and spearheads initiatives focused on spiritual growth, fellowship, outreach, and service, meshing directly into the PoPLC vision statement, and establishing a gateway to connect men with one another and with other POPLC ministries. The MAT supports all men in becoming better disciples of Christ and to encourage their active involvement as servants of God’s Church and our community.

Our next meeting is planned for Tuesday evening, 5 August. For more information on the Men’s MAT, please contact Aivars Baumanis or Dave Shaddrix.

Vacation Bible School is quickly approaching and we need YOUR help! Volunteer spots are filling up, but even if you can't volunteer at VBS, there are other ways to be a part of this special week! Are you able to help in any of the following ways?

Recruiting English as a Second Language (ESL) Volunteer Teachers!

We need persons with an interest in building a strong diverse community in our Prince of Peace neighborhood. Our ESL program, which runs from September to May, needs people who enjoy interacting with people of various cultures who are anxious to learn the English language in their new home in Northern VA. The teaching commitment is for one day a week for two hours and requires no special teaching experience. This is a "Serve the World" opportunity for you in the Prince of Peace community!!

If you have an interest or just have questions about how you can be involved, send a note to ESL@poplc.org or call the Prince of Peace ESL Coordinator, Mark Rumohr, at 703-776-0947.  Can’t wait to hear from you!

Donate Your Used Books

You will notice the big green book donation bin in the front parking lot facing Old Keene Mill. Your books will be put back into circulation and the proceeds of the sale will go to help finance the youth trips this Summer. What a great way to share those books that you have loved and bless others with them again.
