Poetry in the Borderlands
“In the Borderlands you are the battleground where the enemies are kin to each other. ” (Gloria Anzaldua)
On Tuesday, April 11th, UUCFM Poetry Circle continues our exploration of the poetry of people who write of politics, faith, and love from their experiences of oppression. In Florida now, Queer BIPOC poets live in multiple borderlands, which include love, beauty, and spirit as well as fear and anger. Among this week’s possible poets are Chrystos, Gloria Anzaldua, and Pat Parker.
We meet on Zoom from 1-3pm on alternate Tuesdays, and are always delighted to see new members. Contact Cat Pivetti for more information and links to the week’s poems and to Zoom.

Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra
Nunsense
Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show. Here we meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz, and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon!!! (Nunsense.com)
April 13-29. Click here for tickets.
