Roof Campaign Update: Goal Surpassed!

Praise God—and thank you, Prince of Peace!

Because of your incredible generosity, our Roof Campaign has exceeded its original goal of $225,000. As of today, $256,066 has been received!

Your faithful giving means we will need to use less of our reserve funds, allowing those resources to remain available for future repairs and ministry needs. What a tremendous blessing for our church family.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to contribute, gifts are still warmly welcomed. Any additional donations will further strengthen the church's reserves and help prepare Prince of Peace for future maintenance needs.

Roof replacement work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 20. During the next few weeks, you may notice construction activity and a bit of a mess around the church as the project gets underway. Thank you in advance for your patience as we complete this much-needed improvement.

Thank you again for your faithful generosity, your prayers, and your commitment to caring for the home where we gather to Know God, Grow Together, and Serve the World.

Blessings,

Brad Womble

Special

Announcements

Are you new to Prince of Peace? Or maybe you’ve been attending for a little while and would simply like to learn more? We warmly invite you to join us for a Meet Prince of Peace event on Sunday, August 9th from 9:15–10:15 AM in Room 21.

This will be a relaxed and welcoming time to hear from Pastor Michael Hayes as he shares about our church’s story, mission, and community life. It’s also a great chance for us to get to know you! Some of our staff will drop by so you can put faces to names and feel more at home here.

To help us plan, please let us know if you’ll be attending by emailing Tiffany Sears.

Childcare is available—we have a fully staffed nursery for infants through age 6, and Sunday School classes for older children. You’re also welcome to bring your children with you to the event if that’s more comfortable for you.

We hope you’ll join us!

Recruiting English as a Second Language (ESL) Volunteer Teachers for the Fall!

We need persons with an interest in building a strong diverse community in our Prince of Peace neighborhood. Our ESL ministry has a need for daytime and evening teachers starting in September.  As an ESL teacher you will interact with people from around the globe who are anxious to learn more about their new Northern VA home while learning the English language.  The teaching commitment is for one day a week for two hours and requires no special teaching experience.

If you have an interest or just have questions send a note to ESL@poplc.org or call the Prince of Peace ESL Coordinator, Mark Rumohr, at 703-776-0947.  Can’t wait to hear from you!

The Prince of Peace Endowment

Securing Our Future

Do you have a vision for a new ministry or a project that aligns with our mission? The Endowment is designed to bring those visions to life.

The Prince of Peace Endowment is more than a fund; it is a permanent foundation for our mission. By preserving the principal and only distributing a portion of the earnings, we ensure that your gifts become a living legacy—supporting the Gospel at Prince of Peace for generations to come.

How It Works

Professional Oversight: Our funds are managed by the LCMS Foundation, providing expert, faith-aligned investment stewardship.

Integrity & Security: The Endowment is independent of the general operating budget. The church cannot "spend down" the principal, ensuring the fund remains a perpetual source of support.

Strategic Growth: A portion of annual earnings is distributed to fuel specific ministry initiatives that fall outside our normal operating expenses.

Don't delay! The deadline to apply for funds is August 1, 2026.

In a world where self-help is celebrated, why does enlisting the support of an LCMS Foundation Gift Planning Counselor make sense? Estate gift plans can get complicated at times, as you weave desires for family inheritance with your desires to support your favorite ministries as well. Your LCMS Foundation Gift Planning Counselor is trained to identify how best to use the right assets for the right purposes that you have in mind, often with charitable gifting instruments that bring it all together. Your desire is to transfer God’s blessings, and to do so in the wisest way possible. To start learning how this works, contact our SED Gift Planning Counselor, Pastor John Denninger atJohn.Denninger@LFND.org.

Livestream Ministry Volunteers Needed

Can you give just one Sunday a month to help us share the Gospel beyond these walls?

Our livestream ministry reaches people who are homebound, traveling, exploring faith, or simply unable to worship with us in person. It's an important part of how we care for our church family and connect with our community.

The good news is that no experience is necessary! We'll provide all the training you need, and it's much easier than you might think. Teenagers are welcome to sign up! Whether you can serve once a month or even every other month, your time can make a real difference.
