For Tomorrow's Meeting

The Nominating Team (Rob Lansing, Dave McLean, Jessica Landon (Chair), and Pastor Michael (ex officio) is pleased to report the nomination of two persons for the Board of Servant Leaders: Patty Bryant and Jennifer Douglas. The Congregation will vote on these two nominees at the Voters Meeting on June 1.

Patty Bryant and her family joined Prince of Peace in the summer of 2009. Since then, she has served on the Board of NOVACO (as the PoP representative), on the Senior Pastor Call Committee which called Pastor Michael, and for several years on the Care and Outreach and Personnel Committees. Patty and John have four children and one son-in-law. All four children were confirmed at Prince of Peace and their daughter was recently married at Prince of Peace.

Jennifer Douglas has been a member of POP since 1985. She has served the church community in many capacities including reader, school board member, board member, call committees and nurture and care teams. Jennifer currently serves on the Love In Action committee and participates in a Sunday morning grow group. She retired from federal service last summer and lives in Fairfax Station.

A Message from the Board of Servant Leaders (BoSL)

Regarding Proposed Changes to the Constitution & Bylaw

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Just as the Apostle Paul urged that “all things should be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40), we believe it is wise and faithful to periodically review and strengthen the foundational documents that guide our shared life in ministry. In that spirit, the Board of Servant Leaders is bringing forward proposed revisions to our Constitution and Bylaws, as part of a broader and ongoing review of how we operate. As you may recall we recently updated the Policy Manual, but it has been nearly 20 years since the Constitution and Bylaws of Prince of Peace were last updated.

NEXT SUNDAY!!

We invite you to partake in a divine gathering on June 8th, unveiling a glimpse of heaven itself as our diverse congregations unite to honor the Lord and rejoice in the wondrous acts of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

Following our worship service, we will bask in the warmth of fellowship over a shared meal. Kindly bring a dish to contribute to our communal feast.

Please note, on June 8th, there will be no services at 8:00 or 10:30, nor will there be Sunday School; instead, we shall gather for the All Nations Worship at 10:00 am.

*This service will also be livestreamed at 10:00 am.

From the Holy Comforters

The sewing season has concluded, and the Holy Comforters thank the congregation for their fabric donations. They sent 138 large quilts to Lutheran World Relief and 24 baby quilts to local support centers. Batting, funded by the November quilt sale, has nearly doubled in price, making donations crucial. Contributions can be made to the Holy Comforters, and fabric donations can be arranged through Mary Lion. Two new sewing machines were purchased with Thrivent's support, and members are encouraged to use their gift grants for more. Special thanks to the dedicated sewers who met weekly from January to May. (Mary Lion, Arla Albers, Carolynn Budd and her group of ladies in Fairfax, Sally Bustamante, Debbie Dixon, Kay Hathaway, Eileen Kwak, Darlene McCoy, Scotte McElwain, Kathy Piper, Mary Kay Powers, Hertha Schock, Julia Moon, Jean Stewart, Annika Williams, and Jo Ann Zimmerman.) New participants are welcome, regardless of sewing skills, for various tasks. Look for announcements in December for the next sewing season.

Donate Your Used Books

You will notice the big green book donation bin in the front parking lot facing Old Keene Mill. Your books will be put back into circulation and the proceeds of the sale will go to help finance the youth trips this Summer. What a great way to share those books that you have loved and bless others with them again.
