Letter from the BoSL

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we start a new season of Advent, the BoSL invites you to prayerfully consider donating a special end-of-year gift for our amazing pastors, ministers, and staff.

God has blessed us richly through these devoted believers, whose work helps us to better Know God, Grow Together, and Serve the World.

Please share your appreciation with them this Advent season with words of encouragement, prayers for them and their families, and by noting “staff gift” on your donation by December 31, 2025.

We praise God for His abundant blessings, so many of which come through our faithful Prince of Peace leaders and staff.

Happy Advent!

Board of Servant Leaders (BoSL)

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

In just one more week, our Hypothermia guests will arrive. Please take a moment to review the opportunities below and consider how you can help us Serve the World. We are especially in need of food donations.

Each evening we’ll welcome up to 49 neighbors in need here inside Prince of Peace, providing a warm meal, a safe place to sleep, and breakfast in the morning. FACETS staff will be on-site, and we need your help to make this week of care possible.

If you can donate supplies or serve in person, please sign up and help us “Serve the World” this winter!

Hypothermia Clothing Collection

As in years past, we will be collecting new or gently-used clothing for our Hypothermia Guests. Please consider blessing our men and women with a donation! The collection box will be in the narthex from December 7th - 28th.

Requested items include:

  • All sizes - Sweatshirts, sweaters, shirts, pants, jackets, coats, comfortable shoes
  • Gloves, mittens, caps, scarves
  • Underwear & socks (new only for these items)
  • Toiletries such as Travel-sized toothpaste, lotion or soap; Toothbrushes

If you have questions contact Sue Sweet.

Your response to the Angel Tree gifts has been overwhelming. We thank God for your generosity and for the love you have shown to children and families in our community.

If you didn’t have a chance to purchase a gift from the tree, you can still take part in this ministry. By donating online, Prison Fellowship will provide a gift on behalf of the incarcerated parent, reminding their child that they are loved and not forgotten.

Important BOSL Update

BoSL member Patty Bryant has moved away and cannot complete her term. Per our Bylaws: when a vacancy opens, it is the responsibility of the BoSL to find a member to complete the term. Lori Martin has graciously accepted to complete Patty's term. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to the BoSL.

Cina Deaton Memorial Scholarship Fund

It is our joy to honor Cina Arico Deaton with a memorial scholarship fund, and to continue her legacy of blessing children and families with the opportunity to attend Prince of Peace Lutheran School. Cina served as our Principal from 1995 to 2008, and we continue to be impacted by her strong, positive influence on our school ministry. She is fondly remembered with deep gratitude and affection, beloved for her extraordinary kindness, loving approach to teaching children, and thoughtful care for everyone the Lord placed in her path.

Are you new to Prince of Peace? Or maybe you’ve been attending for a little while and would simply like to learn more? We warmly invite you to join us for a Meet Prince of Peace event on Sunday, January 18th, from 9:15–10:15 AM in Room 21.

This will be a relaxed and welcoming time to hear from Pastor Michael Hayes as he shares about our church’s story, mission, and community life. It’s also a great chance for us to get to know you! Some of our staff will drop by so you can put faces to names and feel more at home here.

To help us plan, please let us know if you’ll be attending by emailing Tiffany Sears

Childcare is available—we have a fully staffed nursery for infants through age 4, and Sunday School classes for older children. You’re also welcome to bring your children with you to the event if that’s more comfortable for you.

We hope you’ll join us!
